Great to see you Jack.

Hope all is well.

All is well.  I have been busy coaching all year around.  My youngest is playing competitive baseball and I coach his team.  So we do Spring/Fall ball with a few tournaments and I coach his basketball team in the winter so that along with coaching my oldest son's football team.

Kaden, my oldest is playing QB this year..  Beat five other boys out so it was a proud papa moment but we are now trying to fill his shoes at Center...  He needs a lot on the details but his 3 step is consistent now, and his upper body fundamentals are looking solid.  He throws a nice accurate ball on short and intermediate routes although he has struggled with timing up the slant and Q-slant but we are getting there.  He needs work on throwing the deeper routes...mostly his shoulders and angle of release and driving through the throw.

We are vacation at our house in Seagroove, FL so we go to the park each day and get some throwing in when we can.  He is a perfectionist and a hard worker so I don't really have to push him...just a tweak and correction and we work on it with reps.

How is the family?

Awesome
Tyler has graduated HS and is now at SFA for football #17 He's been trying to absorb the playbook. He is going to school to be a football coach, I don't think I could be more proud. Coaches like you DP and of course his HS coach has really had an impact on him on wanting to become a coach. Maybe Tyler can meet up with Kaden and Tyler can help to repay you.
Glad to see y'all doing good.

I had no doubt Tyler would be leading a team.  Saw it the first day you introduced me to him.  He is a great kid and I have no doubt he will be on that field soon :)  Let me know when he plays I will try to watch.

Kaden would love that...he got to see three of the boys I coached at POP graduate and one of them sign with Navy.  He loved it and it made an impression on him.

CB's in base should split the difference between the WR and the DE...

Example -

-------------------CB (6 yards)
----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------
------------------------------------------DE
----------------------------------------
WR--------------------------------------------OT
(12 yards)

This allows him to drop read the QB and play the inside breaking routes.  For example say the WR runs a traditional 3 step slant the CB drops reads the QB's upfield shoulder and his throwing arm..when the QB drives the ball back/up away from the ear the CB breaks on the direction of the front shoulder and puts him in line with the slanting receiver and more importantly the ball.

Jack

I've been running this defense for two seasons and this is exactly what we do.  Provides the CB with the angles advantage.
