Shift and AutoGAP
« on: August 29, 2016, 11:56:44 AM »
Defense in STACK vs. WING T
Mike calls SHIFT left because of 4:2 line balance
Right side has 2 lineman and OLB calls AUTOGAP
Would this be correct because now you leave the left A gap open or would SHIFT supercede AUTOGAP?

I wouldn't stack against a wing T
I run a wing T and Jacks 6-3.
You could auto gap but be prepared to run out of base.
Show em the keys and let em go.
Jack has put together a great D

This was a new team in our league we scrimmaged against.
After first series i actually cancelled the AUTOGAP.
This is my fourth year with Jack's D :-*

Question still remains, does SHIFT call over rule AUTOGAP?
Heres another scenario
5:2 UNBALANCED

I would not autogap that original formation with my LB's. I might not even shift the line depending on where the 11th guy is.  I might have the line playing straight up, but I might shift the OLB either spread or just inside the DE.

Our Mike called shift left or right when he saw a "funky" offset.

I only shifted the interior and they just went over one player left or right
