Frosh dominate first scrimmage
« on: September 04, 2013, 07:41:05 PM »
So we are running a live scrimmage practice, really working on the core plays, eyes inside and so on.

The frosh team had a scrimmage and these big kids from East Hartford show up. I hear my varsity kids saying "holy cow, these are freshmen? they must be 17" , they were some big kids.

Anyhow, first two series I think our frosh guys really dominated and didnt give up a score until 38 plays in. I was pleased and proud of the little wings and corners who held their own. Theres always a ton to learn and teach but they did great against a big team.

Some of the things that stood out, counters, xx, powers, traps, wedges all looked good.  defensively, the kids need work on the 46 basics but bothered the other guys in the backfield most of the day.  still peeking at times in man coverage and at times you can see the moose and falcon back pedaling to play pass when theres an obvious off tackle run.
