Coach,

With your frosh team did you utilize 33 personnel or more typical 46 personnel?

Theres not much of a  difference.

The "defensive end" is only slightly more forgiving in that hes not going to play in space in the flats,  I cant say we had outstanding athletes there on our frosh team as we most often fill the falcon (fred)  and shark/wolf spots before we fill the edge rush spots.   We had 13 healthy kids most of this past season at the frosh level.   The kids did a great job and the coaches absolutely did the most with the least.  Amazingly they once again scored on the opening possession of every single game too.

Coach, thanks for the reply. I would think that the 46 DE is a larger less mobile player vs the SS type at Spur in a 33 is that correct.

Not necessarily however we typically have one bulkier guy, one skinny agile guy...just seems to work out that way.

It doesn't matter which defense you are talking about, the kid needs to be able to take on kickout blocks and have the strength to make tackles after getting off blocks. IN either defense, the ability to accelerate, stop, change directions quickly matters- the better your athlete in either defense, the better the defense.

we play with whatever we have.
