wing backs on power sweep
« on: May 28, 2015, 07:28:38 AM »
38 power sweep, 29 power sweep...

ok so we use the count system: play side tackle has number 1, play side te has number 2 and both guards pull

ok so for the play side wing back:  now verses a regular  50 we are doubling that de since he is number 2 and he is the force defender...

but what are we telling the wing back for his rule?

seems to me that "force defender " is too vague  because the corner could be the force if the de is line up in a tight 6 or 7?   what are we telling the wingback on power sweep?

Defensive end in a 50,60,70

olber in 40 (treat it as a drop end in a 61 or 62)

My question on the power sweep is  the playside tackle has #1. Now versus a 44, is the two technique doubled by the center and tackle, or is it a one on one block with the other going to the second level?

Versus the same 44D, what if the tackle is in a 1 technique? Does the center and tackle double team or does the center cut playside alone with the tackle going to the second level?

Is it a rule that the tackle is responsible for the 2, 3, or 4 tech if they are the #1 on the sweep?

with the center responsible for the 0 tech and 1 tech?

center is man on man away.....if a defender is touching him he blocks him--yes one on one blocks

Go it thanks. So the PST would cut block a 1 tech on the playside.  If there is a 1 and 3 tech on playside, would the PST cut the 3 tech and hopefully the 1 tech would get caught in the wash. (with the assumption of a shaded nose) We see some unorthodox defenses at the youth level.

If its an odd front, the center has the nose.
