Wing T vs 7 Diamond

DC and others...

I'd like to hear what you run against a 7 diamond...from the formations below...

You can add this to your book..."Attacking a 7 Diamond"...;)

Thanks!

You could run "20 Midline Trap" from this and, if you had the OT's block S, it would probably score at least 50% of the time.

I would expect to also be able to run "Super Power Wedge" for 4-6 yards.

Also, "Left 32 Trap".

The TE on the right should be "nasty split", which should open up "24 Counter Cross" with TE to get B or allow RG to get to B on "36" while RT takes DG and WB takes DT. This allows you to run the "6" hole several different ways:

"36"
"36 Toss" (looks like a TD)
"36 Sweep"
"26 Sweep"
"16"
"16 Sweep"

On the non-sweep calls,

The same "fold block" by the RG allows you to run "38 Rocket Power" or "38 Option". If B follows the motion on "Rocket" call "Fake Rocket, 23 Cross" and tell LE to block S. If S follows the motion on "rocket", call "Fake Rocket 23 Cross" and tell LE to block B.

"Right 41 Trap"

By a slight formation change, "Slot On, 23 Cross" could go the distance. When DE on left starts to crash to stop "23", run "47 Speed". If he won't crash, run "33 Quick" and he will.

This defense is fairly common at the 8 year old level. If that's the case, you need to have a few plays executed well versus lots of plays executed badly. If you have good RB's, I predict three TD's by half time.

Passing wise, you can run anything you want except the "Zero Open" plays.

Run any "36" or "38" play except "Toss".

Read the DE and go where he isn't.

"15"
"47 Toss"
"47 Speed"
"Slot On, 23"
"33 Quick"

I would use "Slot On". It allows you to cross block and gives the Slot a great block on B.

i know it doesn't seem like it, but it is weak against the sweep to the weak side. we ran delaware so i don't know what play that would equate to in dcwt, but the delaware 189 belly sweep is very effective against this d. i think in dc speak that would work out to some sort of 49 sweep with the hb blocking the de, fb faking a dive through the 3/5 hole.

run 47 fly 4 or 5 times a game
pass left/right 1,2 or 3 5 times a game
run option left or right 10 times
midline 5 times
mix in some jets and powers off tackle and I might be surpised if you dont score as much as BAM BAM does! AND THATS A LOT!

We played a team that ran a tight 6-2 and that looks very similair, and we ran a good 300 + yards with off tackle and fly and the counters/ reverses off both....the D didnt have enough backers to cover so we just put a wide out & slot
to same side and once we broke thru line it was off to races.

my 2 cents in truth this is a horrible D unless your 11 boys are just dominating the other teams 11 boys in which case it almost does'nt matter how they line up.......this D would stop 3 runs for little to no gain and then give up a long run and thats if talent is equal....maybe I would use something like this as a goal line D
