Did you start with Double Wing?

Did you start running the Double Wing offense or did you try others first? Who started out in the Single wing and then went to Double Wing?

I started out DW and then went to the UBSW. I like the DW, i guess it was a mix of me not being able to coach it good enough, kids not showing for practice and we just didnt have the players on the Oline to make it work.

DW was the first YOUTH system i was explosed to, i played in the wing t system in high school and zone scheme in college when i decided to coach youth out  of college the OC had double wing, at first i related it to the wingt that i knew way off, after researching and watching video of it i understood it...since that year was rough for us running dw *randy the oc ran it for 8 years before i got to him* the next year we ran dcwt and fell in love...but the roots of our offense is dw, last year we ran spread and base run was tackle trap we used SAB and killed defenses had it not been for DW we would never had thought of that

Started out with the wing t, then started researching the DW after meeting up with a team that ran it against us.  I really liked the combination of power, speed and deception.  I have since added some UBSW to our DW attack.  We have even started running some splitback with DW blocking.

When I first started as a "daddy" coach we ran a mixed bag of formations and plays with power I as the base. I put my name in to help and  the next year got thrown in as the Offensive Coordinator 3 days before our 1st scrimmage. Since I did not know what I was doing I installed a Wishbone power that ended up as a sweep left sweep right once our only inside threat broke his ankle after the 1st game. The next year after going online I found DCwingT and ran that for 2 years but due to league rules had to water it down. Then I went to pop warner and assisted another coach run DCWingT as his OC for the little guys(MM) I enjoyed running it with another coach that knew what he was doing.  This last year I moved up to Jr Midgets 11-13s and happened to get on with a few coaches that had run DoubleWing for the last 2 years.  There is nothing better than learning a series based offense from guys that actually know what they are doing and why. As they say I "drank the coolaid" and it will be very hard for me to not teach DW as a base offense for youth. I would be interested in learning other offenses but not from anyone that does not really know what they are doing.
I would be interested in SingleWing if the right circumstances presented themselves.

Multiple, then went to Double Wing to simplify our blocking rules.

First year I had a grab bag of plays and fomations for my backs.  I just had the line block who was in front of them and protect the inside gaps.  I was clueless.  I was the one yelling at the kids to "hit somebody".  Then after seeing a you tube video of a kid from California  named "Cody Paul"  I was amazed with the offense they were running on his hi light video.   I found out it was called the Double Wing and started researching it.   I was then introduced to this site from a coaching buddy of mine in my league.  I found out there was a lot of material and support available to install and teach the DW.  So I dove in head first!  Now we are going into our second season with the DW and I am excited to grow with the boys with this system!

It was actually an oddball situation...we were running the DW, till I was made HC of the JV my 1st year.  The HC refused to give me a copy of Wyatt's playbook.  His exact words were "I don't really care what you run, run whatever you want"...becaue he didn't want me to have a copy.

I found some of my dad's old coaching books down in my basement, one was Joe Blount's Smorgasboard offense, the other was Lou Howards Short punt.  SO we started out running short punt

2 years later i was Varsity HC, we kept DW, but added Short Punt as a changeup, which later took over as our primary set.

2nd year.  Have only run DW.  Will be adding a SW Spinner Series to my DW this year.

2005 was our most talented team.  During the regular season, we lost to the (eventual) Pop Warner national champion (who was also in our conference).  They scored the go-ahead touchdown with 46 seconds remaining in the game.  We shut out every other team in the conference.  I'm still pissed about it.

1999 was my first year as a full time HC.  We went 5-3.  We won the games where we had better talent and lost the games where they had better coaching.    We're 82-3 in the C.F.F. since then.

Started with the Veer (I know I know what was I thinking).  Moved to single-wing for the next 2 and have been double-wing ever since.
