For the record....I am not including anything SW in my presentation but if anyone is interested I have finally figured out how to stop that damn Offense dead in its tracks.... because I HAD NO CHOICE thanks to Coach Cisar.  >:(

The UBSW is like the Plague in my neck of the woods. Very popular Offense right now until they have to play my team.  ;)

I am the Anti SW Coach now.  8)

That's some high heat right there, is what that is.

It's true!  Using Mahonz' system to shut down a SW team was one of the best times I've had on the sidelines.  Hearing their coaches yell at each other and the kids was priceless ("you gotta block!!!").

Well there's the problem right there.  If you don't say "Somebody" at the end, you can't expect the kids to do it.

That is a big mistake.  If I didn't learn to add "somebody" I would have never had the success in Africa that I had.  This site rocks!

Was this before the new adjustments in the latest addition?

Did anyone Notice how Poorly the Titans played their Option last night.  Did anyone notice how many times Ryan jumped into the 46?  Hint, Second longest run in Monday Night History.

If you go back and look at the play there were two defenders in one gap, A HUGE NO NO.  Not the schemes fault, the players fault.

I may have this document but I know I need more input  :P

I am revamping my defense for next year and need to see about stopping the SW with an easy call. If I put it in now in the "Infant stage" of the revamp, then I can go easily in and out of it.

If it is still breathin I need to have it :D

Oh there is nothing "easy' when it comes to stopping the SW. Its a week long exercise for your Defense.

I'll email you.

Those of you that will attend this Clinic, make sure you ask Michael about his 3 cone drill. Its like a "whos ball is it" for blocking. Brings aggression out quickly and will condition your players at the same time. Michael set aside all ill feelings towards me and ran it with 4 of our boys. Its competitive no one wants to lose and they always wanted one more rep. trying to finish top of the class. Very nice.

By the way, Gus had a great group of kids.  The session was a lot of fun, at least for me.

By the way, Gus had a great group of kids.  The session was a lot of fun, at least for me.

We had drill stations in our early practices for entire level - before teams were separated.

Michael and I ran 3 cones for ours some days and the kids couldn't wait to get to our station.

Now it's not a beginners drill - but it still is fun to do.

It really illustrates the skill needed to block someone in open space.

It needs to be modified for zone blocking - but the concept is really, really helpful.  For zone you would just go 2 on 2 rather then 1 on 1.

You have to work up with that anyway with man blocking because you have to account for stunts and blitzes.

All the advantage in the drill goes to the defense.   It also demonstrates that with practice and reps it can be done.

Bottom line is it makes you move your feet and stay on your block.   If you don't you lose and kids really, really hate to lose.   Especially when you praise the winner and chastise the loser.   I had kids claiming I cheated all the time in drills because they didn't win.

It's worthless for foot to foot track blocking and the like.
