Some things are just best left to the Professional.

Haven't you ever noticed the sign in every mechanics Garage?

Hourly rates:

With your help $127 per
Without your help $27 per

Coaching football is one of those deals.
Mike, I agree that "coaching" is best left to coaches.  Surgery is best left to surgeons.  Auto repair is best left to mechanics.  Is anyone arguing otherwise?  That's not my point.  I'm talking about the willingness to discuss.  I don't mind talking to a parent any more than I'm willing to talk to a coach.  Don't see what the big deal is, really.  Who puts stipulations on who they're willing to talk to?

Eastbay is all i got.

But you really don't even know the entire situation in regards to that either... I just happen to be more open & honest about challenges i've had, than a lot of people (general statement)...

I could gloat about all we've done & mention none of our faults, send you game film of us whooping on teams in bug games.  But thats just pointless...

So try not to hold my honesty against me.  I'm not gonna nit pick every game you've lost.  And i'm not gonna rub your face in all the championships i've won.

Dave, i don't disagree w/ you either.  Like i said, this is just what works best for me.

And as i've said, i've seen major problems arise from discussing footbal strategy w/ parents.  That might not be your experience, but i've seen it many times.

Dave

ahhh...I thought we were talking about talking to parents about coaching.

Yes I can have a good conversation with any of them at Buffalo Wild Wings after a game.

I much body fat do you guys think is a problem? I think you guys are discounting how good this type players can be. They have to have quickness but they don't have to win any foot races.

Oh, i'm not saying they cant be good.  I just prefer to turn them into good defensive players.  My lineman have to run clear across the field on pulls & touchdown blocks...
Slow lineman, just aren't my preference.  If thats all i got, well, i'll make it work.  But my preference is to have faster lineman.

I've had kids go from slow & overweight, to running 5:30 miles in junior high & playing OLB.  I never sleep on those kids.  I just prefer to utilize their size & strength on defense.

Is there still time to sign up to attend this clinic?

Mahonz, are you planning on speaking about how to coach the pass (WR/QB) ?

I put so much into every aspect of everything we do.  That any criticism feels like a smack to the face.

--Then you need to put on your big boy pants.  Y'know who else doesn't respond well to criticism?  Children.

I pour my heart & soul into it.

--Do you work harder than I do?  Does the amount of work you do give you the right to receive less criticism?

So if i engage w/ a parent, who wants to critisize me, even though they've put no work in, i will not respond well.

--So they have no right to an opinion?  So what you're saying is, "You have no right to complain that the food is bad, if you can't cook."

I've just learned from experience

--As have I.  And if you think you're more disagreeable than I am, you're wrong.  Yet somehow I can still make my relationships work.  Why is that?

I don't see HS coaches talking to the parents about football related matters.

--Well then there ya go!  As we all know, high school football coaches are the be-all and end-all.

I define "works", by the fact that we have zero conflict w/ parents.

--That's like saying "I've never lost a game" when you've never competed.  Kinda hard to have a conflict with someone you refuse to deal with.

"Respect" i'll define as they respect my wishes not to discuss football.  It's just not an issue.  Are they bitter about it?  Maybe.

--So they're "respectful," but "bitter."  You have a heckuva way of defining your relationships.  No conficts with parents because you refuse to deal with them.  Your parents respect you, despite their possible bitterness towards you.

I use a simple measurement for base line.

A linemen has to be QUICK for 5 yards at minimum.
Linebacker has to be quick for 15 yards at a minimum
DB well they just have to be fast and have a big fuel tank!!

I have had some large kids who couldn't run to save their arse if it was on fire. At the same time however, they could be very quick in a 5 yard box!!

I can teach them quick feet and hands, I cant teach them to be sprinters!!   Hell you could time my 40 with a calendar.   ;)
Not MPP... ONE TASK!  Teach them!  :)

Lol.  Dave, i really cant argue, anything you said.

My answer to just about everything you said is... YES!  Lol.

But really, it sounds worse than it is.  As i said, moms would rather discuss homework w/ me anyways.  Dad's are just going to have to be frustrated if they really feel the need to discuss my football strategy.

It rarely ever comes up after the initial contact where i let the parents know that's our policy.

The  nice hairy happy space between my wifes legs is what she tries to cover my kids in.  That is also the first part that comes out when they think their kid is being treated unfairly, when in fact its exactly what is needed.

Hairy?  That's as dated as the single wing!

What would give you reason to NOT discuss football strategy with parents? You are missing a great opportunity.
