2 slots left for sweeps... which one????
« on: June 03, 2013, 12:47:37 AM »
Okay coach this is what I currently have in my playbook.... This is for 12-13 year olds. It's pretty basic and about what I used last year to great effectiveness.... Only last year I had NO sweep whatsoever bc I was given very limited time to rep with my Offense since they were looked at like backups... well this year I'm the HC and THIS IS the SYSTEM..... I'm at 21 plays... Not including my 4 triple option plays that will only be installed if the kids are looking great at the core..... So my question is which sweep should I use???? I've been watching video of your coyote team and I'm really liking the "Sprint Sweep" with the faking fullback and the BSG,PSG,PST pulling out in front..... everyone else cut blocking.... I also like the fact it's a sneaky handoff when we've been mostly tossing the ball.... But in your opinion what is best?? I like the idea of the rocket sweep that several teams have been using where the QB reverse pivots and tosses deep to the playside but it seems like that play has a somewhat high likelihood of an errant toss and a killed drive...... When and if I find the defense not respecting the edge and i call sweep I like small risk, high reward..... And the sprint sweep looks like it might be just that.....

2 POWER PLAYS (34, 25, 36, 27)
7 COUNTERS  (2 counter, 2 counter cutback, 2 XX counter, 1 "special" counter draw)
2 wedges (1 XX, and 1 LASER OUT WEDGE)
2 TRAPS (42/43 counter trap XX)
1 NO PLAY
2 SWEEPS (Rocket and Laser)
2 FLOOD PASS RIGHT (1 standard motion, 1 rocket out motion)
1 POWER PASS RIGHT (blocked like power, wing blocks like power then runs outside fade)
1 TE SCREEN (looks like flood pass right, screen to TE left)
1 REVERSE (329 REVERSE for my burner 2 back)

boot pass with the sprint sweep and wedge off that series would be nice.

I run a sweep like Shock and Awe that I call "Super sweep"....

three linemen cut everyone on the LOS..... Everyone else pulls to the corner...

The pullers are both guards, playside tackle.....

leading around the corner is PSWB, FB, QB.... So you basically have 6 lead blockers..... BSTE isn't blocking anyone he's just crossing the field to playside looking to decleat someone trying to bring down runner and not looking...
