Coach Cox was kind enough to email me the playbook and OLine manual and its really good stuff. dont even know if we will get around to installing much of the stuff this next year (need to get better at our "core") however eventually some of it will go in and even if you dont use it its def worth taking a look at it. Coach Cox put a significant amount of effort into it.
26 Blast should be the Bread Butter play of the core, just remember the core should be able to hit every gap from A-D ps and then able to counter them. so 7-8 plays should be a good core to start  with, and when you study very closely youll, see once the core is up in running everything falls in place,If you have a good group of kids that can execute well, the core maybe all you need.jmo

As  I quickly learned this year even with HS players. To me 26 blast is power without the qb leading. to my players 26 blast is a whole new play. We follow your mindset with keeping a few plays that we run well and it has helped. so we will start season with the big 5 from dtdw (power, ctr, trap, sweep, pass along with some wedge) and when those are perfect we run will run them from diff formations. then I will get to some more things. The thing that worries me about the I-pistol is not my kids being overloaded as much as me seeing all the different possibilities :).

This is what I like the most about this system. You have a base and all kinds of change ups that are low cost.

I hope all that ask for it will run it and not ask for it for a look. This was one of the things that really bother Coach Cox when sending his system out. It's hard for some because if you're not the header....you have to sell it to your HC. I can't wait to hear the feedback this season.

I apologize then. I did not realize he was bothered by it and I fully understand that he had to have put a lot of effort into this. I plan on incoporating it into what we do but youre right im the head guy so I dont need to be convinced. I just meant that its very good info and I personally enjoy looking at anything I can get my hands on to see if theres anything that relates to what we do and if not then maybe Ill have to face it so I like to better understand it.

You are right Coach B.  2 weeks ago I was going over my material for this up coming season and I was going to run SW base, short-punt and Coach Cox's I-pistol.  The more I read and study the I- pistol, I thought to my self this is silly  I am going all I-Pistol which just makes perfect sense.
I have been studing the material ever sinse I got it. For the age I coach it just seems perfect. After watching Coach Cox teaching the base to the little guys I was hooked.

Coach I know what your saying, ran Cox,s REI,BLUE I last year from under center, and also  his DW, so out of the off set RED I,it was called ,red I 26 toss,we blocked down and k/o,all dw principles , make it yours to fit.Just like his whole Pistol PB,can run all the core plays out of 5-6 formations and nothing changes for the O-Line,only the backs and they still hit the same hole,or routeEven Coach Murphy, and may others have ran an I with dw philosiphies.

Well said Coach. That is exactly were I am going to start.  Hopefully my play book for the first game is: Red I- 26 power
                                            18 sweep
                                            16 power
                                            35 gap
                                            45 counter
                                               wedge
                                            80 flood
                                            90  pop
This is maybe all I will run for the season. I will also try this from unbalanced also.

I am excited to get rolling with this.

Nice, mirror your plays and it,s a nice package. If you can through jet or fly in,the motion alone will trigger the lbers, and ss,and or fs to move where we wnat to run and at some point and time we will, when they ignore it. ROCKET will buckle them.

That kind of sold it on both ends. When he ran it with HS and then came out with the lil tikes. I think Rick said it best that it's a lot in the manual and you have to pick what you want to install as a system. I told Cox that I will be happy only to have to run power pistol all game and not show the spread until the playoffs or as needed. Oh thanks Coach Cox for my Oregon package too. Nice touch and add to the system.

That will be later in the season. Maybe by the 3rd or 4th game. ;) ;D

I think you took it the wrong way coach. I was just talking about talks I had with him. I think we all do that and that's one of the things I love about clinics. You see other concepts that could be added to your program. I was just saying what his intent was in making the playbook vs. those that ask that won't run it just for looks. It's all good either way. (In Coach Cox's voice. lol)

Coach B with my 8-9yos this will be perfect. Even if I want to add something later in the season it wont be a big deal. That is the beauty of this.
