Of those that have ran the 521/5225 what coverage did you run?

we ran 5225 last year and we're basically a press man team. Against double tight teams we would run Auto Blitzes with our cornerbacks. So, still man coverage, either our #2s or #5s would have coverage on the TEs depending on the stunt call.

In the info I have he calls cover 1 which I think of as cover 0, but he states the 5's never cover a TE. Could you just have the Corners cover # 1, FS cover # 2 strong, and have the 5's pick up 3 strong and 2 weak?

Coach, you can have rules that you are familiar with. You can apply them. But I never have my #5's cover a TE because you lose a good perimeter/contain man on the perimeter especially if you have him cover a TE and the TE drags. That is what the FS is for not #5. My #5's never count the TE but my Secondary does. #5's cover the #2 WR to their side but never a TE. It allows them to play pass and be a force player on the perimeter.

I see your point about the perimeter player but my concern would be what if you see some crazy formation? I think what you are advocating is probably rock solid, but I am looking at what ifs?
