Coach, I've never really seen JJ's 'D' other than the tap-in-go. One of the differences I see is that I seldom send my #1 [MB]. I'm not sure about his but in my 5225 you are getting a Auto Blitz from one of the #5's regardless. If you really want to start with Cover 3, Base 22 and 22 X are great schemes for Cover 3. Pinch 55 is great in short yardage. Rip and Liz are great Field Calls. I think the key point is how much you want to and are able to install. If I was still coaching High School I would start in 5225, 5225 X, and Base 22 X. I like being aggressive, but that's my nature. The Madd Dogg attack which is basically the 521 is even more aggressive.
BTW- My Wing-T Attack manual will be out next week, which you automatically get.

Coach I received your packet and have been reviewing it for the last few days. I am very impressed and will be running a variation of the 521. I am confused over cover 1 in the 5225 attack. It seems that similar to JJ's 33 they still have flats and swing route coverage in the 5225 call. I am asking because I would like to start with Cover 3 then work to press or man. Additionally do you have any suggestions beyond your material for attacking the Wing T. Our number one problem team runs Wing T through their entire system and it has been a problem. Finally did you send or do you have a copy of the Mad Dog attack scheme....Thanks so much for your help.
Coach, believe in what you do and it will work. This D is something that some fear so they talk it down,do it by the book until you have some knowledge of what it can do!jmo BELEIVE

I think some talk it down because they don't want to get their ass kicked by it. Just an opinion! But you are absolutely right coach. That's why you are so successful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been suspect of the any 3-3 scheme since the RichRod Michigan era.  Devastating to see your favorite sports team demoralize themselves week in and week out.  :-X

However, I think I'm going to cough up the few bucks and buy this manual.  I love an aggressive D.

Coaches I have seen JJ's and Cox's playbooks. (I even seen the Madd Dogg lol) The thing is that every 33 coach do almost the same thing, but each one have that "finger print" on it. Both coaches have been on my show talking about the scheme. The thing is I seen Cox's book come from the alpha stage to now and it's well put together. He has an adjustment for every look you may see and some. Don't be afaird to use his system because it's roots is from the 52/53. What I like about it is that regardless if you have small kids or bigger it will work. Then you know that this is a HS based system watered down for youth teams. I sent a promo copy to my mentor (Coach Mcnew) and he said he had no problems running his system and it was well put together. He (Mcnew) would run it now if he was coaching. Now Mcnew is a defensive mastermind and he ran the 31 that's a 44 and 335 in one. He spoke highly of his adjustments, the way he explained his system, he also seen how this system would cause problems for most youth teams. He felt it was a Pop Warner based system that could handle power rushing attacks as well as spread. This is from a guy that has a few rings in the trophy case. LOL

A guy asked me about the Mad Dog and I told him it was more aggressive than mine. That's strange considering he wanted to run a Cover 3. Don? Got any cover 3 in your scheme HA!

Coach, that looks like a MIT math equation. 5225 = MC[squared] = Success!  Rick, You Gotta ask Don about his rocket sweep out of Shotgun? BTW- I think Muck is coming around to the darkside.

Thanks everyone you have been extremely helpful. I am just trying to get my mind around some of these concepts. For the last 3 years I have run man coverage, but at the 10-11 year old level I see some advantages with zone. I also see some advantages to pinning our ears back and going for it. I would say most teams last year threw no more than 2-6 times unless they were behind. I think I will start in man and go from there. On another note we played a team about three years ago that ran a 33 stack and they destroyed us. It seemed that we could never get outside on them and faced continuous pressure. I cant wait to start running it. Thanks again coach.
