Attacking the weak side quickly
« on: October 06, 2014, 02:46:20 PM »
It seems most of the plays that hit the weak side are misdirection (Counter) or require putting the wing over there (Gap / Cross) which makes it actually the strong side.

How have you guys been most successful attacking the weak side and has anyone used a quicker hitting play (speed option, etc.)?

This!  In addition, you can run gaps to the weak side too.  I RIGHT is basically RED I with the WB on the other side.  Just don't move the WB.

Blast was the third play we put in.  Gap works as well , we never ran cross because I don't trust my FB to make the hand off.

1. Wedge
2. Power
3. Blast

Aside from this we also installed the offense undercenter so it is way easier and quicker to hit the weak side .

I think you'd be surprised how quick GAP hits to the weak side out of RED I.  Since the WB is still on the right side side you lose a blocker at the POA but the FB is usually at the LB level before they know who has the ball ASSUMING your QB still carries out the blast fake after handing to your FB.
