Running Rifle.
« on: May 31, 2013, 03:08:26 PM »
Running Rifle this season will be out 3rd formation,Pistol and Shift 1st and 2nd.Thinking of some direct snap to the fb,on a couple of plays counter, ice, iso,and wedge under fly,and xx action. In rifle fb is always in (blue)lf, and when he goes red ,the ds plays to him we would put him 1 -2 yds behind wg,and have him step into the snap ,work good when i ran Jacks shift.Thoughts.

Rick:  Why the "fixation" with "plays"?  I don't know a single coach who doesn't have enough plays, but I know a LOT of coaches who have too many plays!

FORMER COLTS' BRILLIANT  OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR:  TOM MOORE OFFENSIVE THINKING

1.   “LESS IS BETTER”!

2.   “IF THINGS ARE GOING BAD – REDUCE.  GET BETTER AT WHAT YOU DO BEST”!

3.   “DON’T ADD OR CHANGE THINGS (IF IT WAS THAT GOOD – WE WOULD HAVE PUT IT IN DURING AUGUST”)!

Offensive coordinator Tom Moore is a brilliant minimalist who keeps it simple. He stretches the canvas and lets his quarterback paint masterpieces. Sometimes it seems like the Colts only have four formations and seven plays, but defenses never know what's coming next.

1.   “LESS IS BETTER”!

This was always the principle behind DW teams and the core principle of Coach Cox's offense. Fewer plays run to perfection or as close as possible to it. Equals Wins!!!

Iam not adding plays just getting to the point of attack quicker with a little more added mis-direction.

We ran rifle in the turkey bowl this weekend. Kids loved it. Opponents hated it. They were not prepared to adjust to unbalanced left. We only ran Fly and Counter off of Fly with the QB.
