Are you trying to run it out of spread?

1st formation is Red I with TE flexed out wide and a Shift Tag. Blocking will change a little because of the flexed out TE but yes, the plays can be run if that is what you are asking. I would look more at base blocking or wash with a little wider splits though. And the 2nd formation is simply Ace, so if you look  at Coach Cox's Ace Package you will see that it is a Package in the Power Pistol. So study up on Shift and Ace and have fun.

Shift is double tight though right? Couldn't I just get in shift with backfield and split the ends and the wing is now a slot and be good?

Have tags to print in the split ends or wing or both.

Trying to settle on my base formation than fork from there. I really want my base to be split ends and wing. If I tag direct I could still run my single wing direct snap stuff by just moving the qb and tailback over just a tad.

What is it you don't like about Pistol Sets?

It works well if your C has trouble snapping to the 5-7 yard depth of Shotgun. And with Coach Cox's Power Pistol you still keep DW Principles from a 3 1/2 - 4 yard QB depth. Allows for a better passing game although you lose a little deception opposed to those plays that are run from UTC. And you are correct about Red I being Double Tight and I should have said, both TEs flexed in your 1st formation. Any how, concept and plays still hold true...the beauty of the Power Pistol.

Coach, what plays would you run out of those two formations?

Coach, what plays would you run out of those two formations?
16/26 power or iso
26 keep, boot
18/28 sweep
45 counter
35 counter
32 counter

passes
slant wheel
slant slant arrow
BS TE skinny
BS TE screen

besides if you dont like the pistol look all that is needed is to have a RB flank out or play WB to the left.  Now you can run jet seep either way.

The pistol formation is like a cousin to the SW formation and can be blocked nearly identical.

This is how i start the formation pre-shift.

Coach Cox built his Pistol Systems all based off the DW that he ran for many years.I ran the DW my first 3  years of coaching, and did very well with 1 underfeated year. But the Cox system is by far -IMO- a bigger punch.Add the 2 together and you will have a monster on your hands.2 total different looks and nothing really changes but the deception.  :) and it will happen.
