Why is the 46 look considered weak against the option? You are covering the strong side of the offense with your strong side (DE; OLB over the TE - 7 alignment; DT over the OG - 3 alignment) and to the SE side you have a 3-technique DT; a 40 ILB; and a wide 9 DE. Granted, your CBs need to be solid if you are in m/m coverage but they need to be solid in m/m coverage no matter what front you are in. If the DT can force a double team and if your FS can run the alley, the offense is in trouble.

  • because even Buddy Ryan says so  :)
  • We had problems with the inside veer to the SE.  No immediate pitch support especially in man coverage.   40 tech has a long way to go depending on how you play it.  The DE is kind of on an island.
