thoughts on basing out of cover 1 and meshing the 46 with the split? jump into the 46 verses two back sets but to one back sets play the split?

We played a good bit of cover 1 - it was our 5 man rush coverage.  It's just not the first thing we teach.  If you are cover 1 team, no big deal in playing both 46 and Split 4-4 depending on personnel.

I am actually interviewing for a varsity dc job Thursday.  I am currently a varsity db coach (since 2010).  I will be presenting this defense (split 44 and 46).  any thoughts on how you would implement the d as far as break down of what positions go where?  I am talking for indy sessions.  example: Should de's and lb's go together?  etc....when you have a chance if you could respond.
