10-1 vs different fronts with options
« on: April 06, 2014, 04:13:17 PM »
Generally speaking there are only a few offensive fronts a defense will see, i am going to go over how to align generally and options to align depending on talent of both sides of the ball.

these are all based on "26" personnel (4-3 defense)

vs wings
wings add an interesting element to the defense, you obviously never want to be out flanked, the question becomes do you want an edge only defender or a dual role player playing coverage and the edge this can only be determined by defensive personnel and talent.

* BUDDY CAN BE CALLED TO BOTH SIDES , WE CALL IT "DUBS" (DOUBLE BUDDY) BOTH ENDS LINE UP IN STAND UP 9 TECH 1-2 FEET OUTSIDE THE WING WITH THE COVER MAN ON THE TIGHT END  IN THE 7 TECHNIQUE AND THE COVER GUY OVER THE WING AT LB DEPTH HEAD UP TO SLIGHTLY INSIDE THE WING.

BUDDY AND DOUBLE BUDDY IS GREAT VS TEAMS THAT BLOCK DOWN AND KICK OUT.  THE KICK OUT CAN COME FROM THE BACKFIELD OR A PULLING LINEMAN.  THIS HELPS CREATE AND ALLEY FOR THE LINEBACKERS/ SAFETIES TO FILL. OR IT WILL FORCE THE RUNNER TO SPILL TOWARD THE SIDELINE TO BE CHASED BY THE LBS AND SAFETIES.

ANOTHER ADVANTAGE TO BUDDY AND DUBS IS THE STAND UP 9 CAN PLAY THE ROLE OF AN OUTSIDE LINEBACKER AND COVER THE RB OUT OF THE BACKFIELD OR BECOME A EDGE RUSHER VS PASS.

WHETHER HE PLAYS THE OLB TYPE OF 9 OR A RUSH END TYPE OF 9 SOLELY DEPENDS ON THE GAME PLAN.

JUST SOME INFORMATION I FEEL IS THE MOST COMMON ANSWER TO A LOT OF 10-1 QUESTIONS

Near back to deep back.  These are attacking ends very aggressive " just go!" Only rule is attack everything with inside shoulder
