Drilling the 10-1??
« on: February 17, 2013, 10:26:24 PM »
 ZACH,

You pointed out the way Celina does it.

Practice template 1hr

4 station circut 10 min each station

Tackle, pursuit, turnover, block destruction/avoidance

10 minutes individual...lbs, dbs, lineman

10 minutes situational teams drill
-celina drill
- georgia drill
- 7 on 7 run
- defensive obstacle coarse

You mind breaking that down with detail on drills?

Thanks,

John

Celina did it under Ford similiar i added or tweaked a few things

The circut period can be your own drills ive given 3 of our main drills for each

tackling 10 min
Drill A. Form tackle on one man sled... Hit and fit, hit...fit...drive, hit...fit...drive... Take to ground... Full tackle

Drill B. Angle tackle 5 yds distance... Hit n fit..., Hit...fit...drive. no to ground tackling

Drill C. Shuffle fill... Hit n fit, hit fit and drive

Pursuit
Drill A.
3 man pursuit

Drill B.
2 on 1 pursuit

Drill C.
Inside out pursuit

Stripping
Drill A. One on one , tackle strip
Drill B. 2 on one tackle strip
Drill C. Chase tackle strip

Block destruction
Drill A gauntlet
Drill B oklahoma with form fit
Drill C 1 on 1 to qb

Celina drill

----------r
----------b

----------q
----------c--------Te
------------------^--c
-------m----$
-----------f

^ - shin splits a te who can block down or release or reach
M and $ find there man and form fit tackle
- fs reads qb
C works jam and read on TE

We dont introduce a ball , we want everyone just worried about the assignments... We go through situations and multiple formations

Google georgia drill i got it from chief pig skin its a 3 level oklahoma

7 on 7 run.... Just 7 offense vs 7 defense...its the first drill but with a ball...its a mini scrimmage

Defensive obstacle coarse is a 4 tier obstacle with mini sections like out skill n drill circut

The great thing about the "10" is theres 2 groups of players...the gapped and the cover guys... Ive put my stud mike at strong safety multiple games and put an avg player at mike compared to the season starter... End of the day its one on one and thats how you have to drill... Constant competition ... Constant coaching... I teach the 1,2,3 of the posistion and add 4,5,6 when i see i need to...overcoaching is worse then under coaching.

Coach optimally... Less thinking more aggression. Aggressive mistake are better in my opinion then perfect softness.

This defense has a secret and its simplicity... The coach has the hard part... The kids shouod just play

We need film or diagrams. If we're gonna do it right. Pdf's will work until you've got some film.

Are your pursuit drills the same ones in Jack's 6-3?
