Matt Patricia the d coord of the patriots was my oc's roommate at rpi. So this was extra special for him.

Hes noticed 10-1 like sets used by the pats...now is it ga moore 10-1 ...nope...but cover 0 blitz from nickle...looks awfully close :)

The CB was able to recognize the slant/rub and fight over the top to make the play
Amazing play- great recognition
Had #2 been able to push his man just a little deeper, the CB wouldn't have had enough room to scrape over and make a play
It looks like a classic pick, but almost all of the contact was within one yard of the LOS- so maybe it was ok as #2 was being pressed hard
Not sure how tight the NFL calls that in that situation?

However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.

I still dislike the call...even if they scored, I dont like the call. You got a good RB they haven't stopped all night / year, your on the 1, you got 2 time outs, you got time enough, 3 plays to pound it in.

This also echos back to so many youth football games I have seen lost or drastically altered because 1 team drives the field using the run, 5 here 6 there, 7 here 4 there, all the way down to the 5 yd line. Then their brain falls out of their head, the corners are playing inside and up so naturally they call a slant...if anything goes wrong its a pick! Or they call a 7 step crossing route??/ that has 7 defenders rushing to sac your QB BOOM! 9 yd loss...Ive seen it so many times, coaches getting cute in the red zone, when the basic power was all they needed.

Yep I like the run call

However the Seahawks were down to just 1 timeout
They started the drive with 3 but had to call time twice when they got inside 5 seconds- plays coming in late
With 2 timeouts instead of 1, may have influenced the playcalling
However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.

Nfl.com reported that marshawn lynch was 1/5 from the 1 yard line all year.

Just something to think about

Play design was stellar ... all the credit to the player

TRUTH IS THE GAME ENDED WITH 2 BEAUTIFUL PLAYS,  1 OFFENSIVE 1 DEFENSIVE

1ST that receivers focus/concentration to catch bouncing ball on his back, a virtual tip to self drill, WOW! very impressive...and that was what 3rd and 10...thats what got Seattle in the hunt. This play will be on highlight reels for all time! One of those NO WAY OMG" MOMENTS in football we only get a couple a year, fewer in superbowls!

2nd the defensive pick to end game, great recognition, athletic aggressive fast everything a coach wants in a professional football player, he will be celebrated for some time

And yet the second time that's happened to the Pats in a Super Bowl...
