Won it!
« on: September 14, 2013, 10:15:49 AM »
Whew!  Final 12 - 6
Defense was very good. They never got inside our 20 yard line. Their lone score came as a result of our punt returner attempting to field the punt on our 2 yard line. He dropped it and they recovered in the endzone for the TD.  We mixed up defenses with 10 and special and 40 fire.  Only gave up 1 long pass and 1 pass interference call (I can live with that - lol)  We played welln the corners with DE's and safeties not getting outflanked by running a 'flat' pursuit angle.  We face a doublewing team next week.  That should be interesting too. btw - we run power T  our Oline was poor but we did score on a boot run and a boot pass.

The double wing defense emphasis from base

Shin splitting is of the up most importance whether you're in special or base must shin split!

Cross keying with safeties and rolling secondary

-----------0
------0----0-----0
--------000#000
-------c---------c
-----$-------------$

Motion should bring us to this
-------0--0
----------0----0
------000#000
-----c--------c
-----------------$
---------$

He orbits you orbit but stay in center field...motion side safety must take a route to comprees the wing or shoot thespace however little between wing and te

Single high checks opposite wing back for counter before playing ball

That's it simple as pie

Now we must be smart because they can pass corners must cancel the te def line must shin split

Do not call buddy unless its absolutely a last resort

Thanks coach.  I just finished looking at our game films. They looked good. I was worried about outside plays but we had good pursuit and the practice of pursueing FLAT paid off. And the defense is almost impossible to run against between the tackles.  It should take a very good QB with very good receivers to cause us great concern and that's where a good hard rush comes in - working on it. Got to keep working on the shin split.  As the game goes on they get lazy - especially my 270 lb tackle.

What is a shin split? Sounds painful.

Coach Gordon

If he's too big to shin split tellem to just man handle is gap and sit in it or go to special and drop him at nose or you can have him aligned against their biggest lineman and just have a sumo match each play

The def lineman shoot the shin to guy lined up to his outside (away from the ball) as his track takes him into the backfield

I've posted numerous youtube links with video in a previous thread named clips look in there. Notice the low defensive 4 point stance there you'll find an idea of the technique

Zach,

I don't see this formation as a big problem for us but how might you align against it?

Trips / Unbalanced / Direct snap

-------------------------O---O
---O----O
------O--------------O-O-O-X-O-O

Thanks
