Best Plays to Attack this Defense
« on: October 25, 2016, 03:59:09 PM »
What do you all suggest as the best plays for attacking the following defense.  OLB's and Mike is only about 2 steps behind the T N T, but B2 is actually outside a bit, near outside shade of RT.  Corner is in bump and run coverage on the SE, with outside shade.  Corners are good tacklers.  DE's will sometimes crash in and sometimes go straight into the backfield to depth of deepest back.  B1 and B2, along with Mike, are good tacklers.  FS is small and doesn't appear to be much of a tackler.  It appears that the corner over the SE, B1, B2, and DE over TE are the best tacklers/players.  Mike seems pretty decent too.

Right off the bat I would think 24 and 20 Midline should be pretty successful.

Don't think plays think formations

Start with Trips...... see how they adjust then go with plays.

If the corners don't follow motions then treat them as DE's

With the single high safety and the corner not paying attention to the SE, a pass over the head of the sitting corner should wake the HC up. If the SE cant catch then put the WB out as a SE.

A lot depends on how they adjust to over calls.
with no over calls:
Pass Left and Pass right, Zero opens
Left 32 trap, right 21 trap, 26 sweep, 33 Quick, Wedge,
25 power, Left 36 Kick, 23 , 24, right 45 kick

                                                                     Z
                            HB
                                      FB

where are your strengths weaknesses?
what do you have installed/what cues?

I agree with wing n it, think 1st series formations, see how they align.

1st play Id say do exactly as Clark suggests, run QB wedge, see what they got up front, I run it with a fake jet sweep, and FB running 24 to kick out end and HB kicking out left end IF he isnt chasing the wing on fake 47, have SE and TE track block thru LBs to safety

this will tell you A LOT about the defense
-are they coached vs wedge? if they are then usually they are a "well coached" team
-is MIKE chasing FB? are others?
-how do they respond to motion? does S chase?
-do corners or other cover or chase the SE and TE? are they zone or man?
-do the Defensive ends squeeze down reading block of tackle?
-how do they line up to TE side in on or outside the TE...personally I like a 5 ft nasty split, how does DE and the right corner react to motion?

there is more questions, pertinent questions, that are answered with just this 1 play, you can begin the chess match of formations and play calling after see just this 1 play and how the defense reacts 'HOW ARE THEY COACHED" IS CRUCIAL

BESIDES YOU WANT TO KNOW RIGHT AWAY IF YOUR ABLE TO BULLY THAT NOSE GUARD OR NOT

Wedge
24
23
Slot over 26 sweep (WB go outside to the B2 and you get HB/WB double on him) if the DE is a problem call power/sweep to double him.
36 sweep
38 power toss.
33 quick
44 quick

"20 Midline Trap" for certain.  They will never figure out what you're doing to them.   :D

Looks like some sort of variation on JJ's 33 Stack. How often do they blitz?

Don't forget about 30 Quick.  Going on 2 most of the game then one 1 gets the HB past the DL before they get out of their stance if he's fast.

Also one change we made this year, since we face double A and B gappers every game, I send the HB in 5 and HBO in the 6 instead of 3&4 and we double hit / chip their best DE.  Works like a champ

The 0 hole. This defense, hit the 0  hole and have the HB run off the Centers butt

you are saying the defenses you face have DT in both A gaps and B gaps at same time thus 4 DT at once??? Holly crap 25 power son!!!! 24 lead, 25 power lead....and surprisingly enough... tackle trap hurts this gap D big time....eg its a GAM killer!
