Need Help Creating My DC Wing-T Playbook
« on: November 07, 2016, 12:11:12 PM »
So today I'm going through the manual and selecting the plays I would like to run next year. It's officially the offseason for our league now and I'm already starting to turn my attention to 2017.

I've been researching the DC Wing-T for the past month and even installed part of the Jet series with my Wishbone team (which I've posted about previously) with decent success. Now I want to start formalizing the initial plays I want to teach my ACs in the offseason so we can be ready to go next year.

Below is what I have so far. I'm looking to know if this is too ambitious or maybe if I'm missing something crucial. There is such an extensive selection in the manual and this doesn't even cover formation tags and cues. I'm open to any and all feedback.

Belly Series
  • 24
  • 16
  • 38 Option
  • 23
  • 15
  • 47 Option

Belly Counters
  • Right 65 Kick
  • Left 56 Sweep
  • Left 32 Trap

Jet Series
  • 47 Speed
  • 25 Power
  • Jet 36 Toss
  • Fake Speed 56 Reverse Sweep

Quick Hitters, Wedge & Toss
  • 33 Trap
  • 44 Quick
  • Super Power Wedge
  • 38 Power Toss

Passing Game
  • Pass Right
  • Pass Right, 0 Open
  • Pass Left
  • Pass Left, 0 Open

Suggestions below with ***

Belly Series
24
Rocket 38 **
23
47 toss**

Belly Counters*** work best with toss as opposed to option as to suggestiins previous
Right 65 Kick
Left 32 Trap

Jet Series---
47 Speed
25 Power
Fake Speed 56 Reverse Sweep * this never worked for us...but power screen did

Quick Hitters, Wedge & Toss
33 Trap***only good vs 5 -0 front...33 quick covers it
44 Quick*** if using orbit or belly motion use 40 quick
Super Power Wedge - eh dont need wedge
38 Power Toss * great play
*** bobby dodd series is "the tits" - 30/40 quick

Passing Game
Pass Right - we only used 2 and 3 open
Pass Right, 0 Open
Slant bc it bill be there

This is great.

Rocket 38 & 47 toss are definite additions.

I like the power screen, we installed it this year and it didn't work either time we ran it. Just seemed like too much congestion but I'm open to trying it again. Small sample size.

33 Quick sounds good

Bobby Dodd series looks great but would that be too much to add in addition to option and jet? What order would you suggest installing them in?

Installation and playbook are different things

23 and 24 go first because thats the basis of the whole damn offense.

Then we go rocket 38 and 47 toss

Then install quick/bobby dodd series

If you dont do rocket put jet in... but remember jet and rocket are calls 2-3x a game and are usually big hitters.

After this base is in its upto you what to do first counters or passing. Dont do  both at same time...

Zach, did you not install 15/16 as part of the Belly series or am I misreading your comment?  I am considering going to the DCWT and am trying to get handle on what I need for a base.

I would go with QB Wedge and SPW.  SPW is good for 5-10 yards and a QB with wheels is gone on "QB wedge".

How does wedge fit into belly series?  What is the backfield/wb action look like?

Only one year... i find out early if i  have a throwing qb, a running qb, or a playing time qb.

Only time i run with the qb is qto, 38 option, 23 follow.

Non option qb we throw n wedge.
