Plays for 7U team
« on: July 10, 2017, 11:53:32 AM »
Here's my plays for my 7U team. I've installed all of them minus counter. I added the counter play because I liked it when a ran the double wing. No QB spin just Criss Cross counter off of toss. I'm teaching my guards to pull on buck sweep and toss. I'm only going to pull my guard on toss. What do y'all think? I have film of my 7U team from last season that I'll post soon. The kids are getting it and fast. The hole numbering makes it so easy. The kids no what I want when I call their number and the hole. The first thing I taught them were their number and then the holes with numbered cones. I had them run to the number I called. I took the numbers away and they remembered. Here's the plays I'm installing 7 all together. I'm going to add a pass play or two later on.

10-Wedge
20-Wedge
24-cross/Trap
33-Quick
36-Buck sweep
38-Toss
47-Speed
Fake toss 43 counter/Criss Cross
Fake speed 56 reverse

Sounds like a lot for 7Us, but I don't like discouraging anyone. Have you done this before with this age group? Go for it and tell us how it goes.

I know what you're saying and I know you have experience with this age group. We're just installing the plays and if we need to get rid of a few because they're not catching on then that's what'll have to happen. I know we don't really need counter since we have reverse and only pull on plays to the right. I'm telling my guard if he hears 36 or 38 that's when you pull. The boys love buck sweep so we could run that instead of toss. I do believe we need toss we just need to rep it more. We're ahead of schedule and we have over 30 days before the start of the regular season. We also have a Jamboree at the end of August with 3 games guaranteed. So by then we'll know what plays to scrap.

You should check out JJ's DW play book. He has it broken down on what plays to run for specific age groups.

I've got JJ's playbook I bought it a few seasons ago. I'm not running the Double wing though.

I just realized those look like DCWT plays.

There you go. I like to group things by priority:

1) Must have
2) Ought to have
3) Nice to have

33-Quick

38-Toss
47-Speed
Fake toss 43 counter/Criss Cross
Fake speed 56 reverse
I don't know how you would do a 24 cross trap
That is 2 separate plays right?
I would stick with QB wedge I could never get the FB to play patient in the wedge. He just wanted to run people over including his own team. The QB was more patient.
My wedges were also done with fake speeds so they had to defend 3 plays

I put a slash there because I wasn't sure how I want to block 24 cross or trap. I'm just going to have the kids double team the DT on the play. Your'e right about the Wedge in this offense. If it was DWDT then I would have no problem running 20 wedge because how close the BB or FB is to the QB. I just run QB wedge in this offense With Sucker or fake 47 speed.

If this was a question then,... Yes I would
Others may have other insights but this play worked for me at every level.

We did a lot of formations not plays... we tried to have kids just do one thing

Base or ends over
Maxi 33/30 quick
Maxi 23/24 *power*
Mini 47
Pass right 1 or 3

Hb over
Maxi 34/30 quick
Maxi 24
Mini 47 jet

We never did wedge bc we were better at maxi quick hitters

We didnt pull until mid season where we did left 65 kick, left 32 trap, right 11 trap

That's what remember
