First yr DoubleWing in the Superbowl
« on: November 04, 2018, 07:49:09 PM »
Won our semi final game today 27-7. Pretty much ran four plays all game. You guessed it (wedge, power, counter and trap)!!!. Not over yet still work to do but definitely wanna give huge thanks to Coach DP and DoubleWing Coach for all the insight they gave me thru the yr. Far as defense go I want to thank Zach, blockandtackle and the long lost Michael for their help thru the yr. Also I know it's not what he wanted but singlewinggoombah thanks you as you gave me a ton of guidance thru the yr also. One more game to go but I know for a fact we would not be heading to the Superbowl without dumcaoch.com. also Congrats to goombah for making the Superbowl also!!!

Congratulations, Donald.  But while you're kind enough to give shoutouts to a lot of coaches who've given assistance along the way, you were willing to ask, you're always willing to learn, and you know how to apply.  A lot of guys who ask questions say they want to learn, but they'd rather be right; they're more interested in having you agree with whatever plight they're dealing with.  You earned this success.  The success is yours.  Now go win The Big Game.

Good job coach...my only championship I won as a coach was also with an 8 year old DW team...take it to them...
None of them suck, they just haven't found what the kid is good at yet.

And I am thrilled for you too, Donald.  We didn't spend all day long in my kitchen going over drills, practices, philosophies, terminology and the Double Wing for nothing!!!

Was a long productive day In the Kitchen that I didn't want to end to be honest and plenty of phone calls. My boys will definitely bring it home this weekend.

Wasn't able to finish how we wanted but nonetheless the kids and I still had a fantastic yr and got a big ass trophy. Lost 38-12,  was able to move the ball well but was unable to keep it. Early fumbles and the inability to stop the opposing team enedes the game pretty early. We don't fumble we definitely would have had a better ball game. They did have 7 older lighters on there 16 team roster which definitely showed, mainly with their RB. Was a great yr and I have no idea what I'll do with all this free time I have now. Plan on hitting a clinic with singlewinggoombah and I think DP will be attending also. Can't wait to start DoubleWinging teams again next yr. One thing I would do different if I could go back to the game this weekend is run more GunDW. Power and Trojan sweep was beautiful out of it but I didn't start running it until the second half.

The thing I'm looking forward to most nexy yr is that I'll only be the OC. Don't have to wear the hat of HC and don't have to worry about defense. Going to be a lot more fun for me just having to focus on the offense and gaining more knowledge only on the offense.

Here's the potential prob:  Since the header controls all, and most boys in youth ball play both ways, you may not get the amount of time you want with your offense.  Or he may waste time in ways that you can't do anything about because he's the header.  For me, being an OC is like being the head coach while wearing handcuffs.  If you want someone else to focus on the defense, just hire a DC.
