Had an 82 Yamaha seca 650 turbo.

I mean who sells a turbo motorcycle to a 17 YO?

Anywhoos, after some very fast speed wobbles while trying to change lanes going way too fast, I sold the bike a week later. Scared outta my mind. Not afraid to admit it. I knew I was going to die on it.
Havent rode a motorcycle since.

I do like the Iron Horse. That's my kinda bike.
I would never own or ride a bike for fear of my life.

Cruisers are a pretty relaxing ride.  My Yamaha 750 was fast.  The other bikes, not so much.

I did a movie about 20-some years ago.  One of the prerequisites to getting cast was knowing how to ride a motorcycle.  I told them I knew how.  (I didn't.)  I learned how (sorta) during the course of filming and had a blast doing so.  Once we wrapped the film, I bought my first bike.  I've had one bad smash-up (and still have the scars), and a coupla other lay-downs, but it's still the best fun to be had.

Love the Kawasaki but it can get hairy here in Chicago. I would say at least 70 percent are on the phone doing whatever. I've had 2 different HDs, 2 sport bikes and my new girl here, sport/touring.

So here's how today went.

Fire up the Sporty and head to work.  Stop at the ATM for some Green Backs, Bike Stalls.  DED, Dead!   Look down and everything is blank.  Spedo, tach at Zero, no lights, no mileage on the spedo, nothing. Mind you I use the trip meter not the actual Mileage.  When the trip meter hits 100 time t think about getting fuel. No Gas Gauge!  Walk it to a parking spot and wait a few.  Hit the key again, it flashes on and goes dead.  This happens about every 3rd time I try it.  Call work and have someone pick me up.  No Biggy Right!?  I call a friend with a trailer to pick me up after work and trailer it home.  As well pull up to my driveway, we hear a Bang!  Both of us look to the Neighbors Mail Box as we thought we hit it.  Nope!  The Sporty had Toppled over on the trailer.  One of the Ratchette straps had loosened during out 10 mile trip.  Yes we tightened it down and Compressed the forks doing so.  It just wiggled loose.  Thankfully no Damage to the Bike but, the day ended as it began. FUBAR!  GRRR!  Sporty is 16 years old.  Sh*t happens.  So as long as I am replacing the Ignition Switch, I might as well replace the Coil, Module, All the fuses, Plug Wires and Plugs.   In for a Penny, In for a Pound.

However, I did spend some time tonight looking for a Bagger to add to the stable or replace the Sporty.   Just one problem.  I abhor payments of any kind.  One cannot retire owing money save for the humble abode.  Even at that I'm looking to part with the abode as well.  I'm such a Cheap Ass!   LOL

Scott, the Suzuki goes to the chop shop on Friday.  Turning it into a bobber.  Bought two ammo cans at a pawn shop and using them for saddle bags.  Having the license plate relocated to the side, converting the rear turn signals to brake lights and having a custom rear fender built.  Adding a custom passenger seat and sissy bar.  Not too many bobbers out there converted to riding 2-up.  The weather here's been great this week so I've been riding the chopper everyday.  But drove the Harley to Outback last night for dinner.

Ratchet straps scare the heck out of me.  I'm always worried they won't hold.  All of my extra tools are in my bike trailer, but as soon as I finish restoring my tool boxes, the tools can leave the trailer and go back in the tool boxes.  Then I'll start laying down new flooring, hooks, and e-tracks in the trailer.

Dropped off the Suzuki at the chop shop.  Spoke with the owner and we went over various hardtail/softail options for making a rear fender for the bobber.  Ordered a 9" wide fender that'll be sectioned to 8 1/2" to fit in between the rear supports.  After he gets it installed, I'll go see it and we'll decide how to trim it.

Finally spent a few hours going over the bike to see "Wha Happened".   Fuses are good (Replace them anyway their cheap). Ignition switch works but cuts off when I hit the starter.  Manual isn't much use for diagnostic stuff.  So before I go pulling parts off and replacing things, I decided to check the battery and cables.  Turns out the Hot lead is a bit ragged looking at the starter and the battery, I charged earlier this season, holds a top charge but dies off under load.  Time for a new battery and I cleaned up the cables.  Hopefully were back on the road in a couple of days.

...he was going very, very fast, as motorcyclists on the interstates in Chicago often do...

Don't you mean "...as everyone on the interstates in Chicago often do...". I thought I was going to die while driving on 88 between 83 and 59. It's the Autobahn of the U.S. Speed limit was posted 55, I was doing 80-85 and getting passed like I was standing still.
