5 lbs of dry ice
5 gallons of hot (from the tap) water
1 10 gallon storage tray (approx 2' x 3' x 6 inches)

I crushed the dry ice into powder before I dumped it in the water.

Verdict: Plenty of fog, but once it left the tray, it disappeared. If I were to do it again, I'd try making an arch out of PVC so the fog cascades down, or I would try the leaf blower. In all, the smoke was pathetic.

Do you think crushing the dry ice diminished the effect?

No. In my testing, I had junks of dry ice, some as big as a baseball. At the end of my 2 minute test, I threw all the dry ice into my hot tub. The baseball sized junks kept bubbling for 15 more minutes. Since our pre-grame hoorah lasts maybe 2 minutes at most, I was going for more fog quicker. Crushing it gave me that. The issue (I think) was the extremely low humidity and high temp (90+ degrees).  A leaf blower going into a hole in the tub lid, combined with a hose coming out of another hole in the tub would allow me to direct the fog. A PVC "arch" with holes drilled in it would allow the fog to cascade down.

Part of the problem is that some of our home games are played on a brand new turf field and our local parks and recs would crap their pants if I brought dry ice onto it.

I've done that for a halloween haunted forest type deal. Same result. I spent hours setting it all up was a waste. You need a big smoke machine. I used a smaller one trying to make it work...awful. They only kick on for a short period of time then go off to, "cool down". I'm telling you, get a handful of people who use those vape machine/cigarettes to blow the smoke out. No time or money invested.

I think our OC could do this by himself.

Use of tobacco products is forbidden at Pop Warner games or practices.  Just sayin'... ;)

Fire extinguishers

$100 each, but might be worth a try since they are rechargeable.

The Enola Gaye smoke grenades wire pull are legit and are the way to go (6 bucks for 1)! I still can't believe I haven't filmed it yet (I will make sure to this weekend) but we came out to pink smoke this weekend and it was a crowd favorite. I recommend buying 2 (maybe 3), in one instance one of the smoke grenades malfunctioned. White smoke is nice but I recommend getting it in your team color

Super easy and low stress in addition to all you have to do, you literally pull a pin and it goes to work. I'll upload a clip after this weekend
