Seattle Clinic- Good News
« on: March 13, 2018, 08:18:32 AM »
All the news isnt bad on the youth football coaching front

Spoke at the Seattle Glazier clinic Saturday

Very well attended- good guys- participating etc

First session is new presentation on :
Defending Youth Football and Building Your Program

I ask everyone to introduce themselves before the session starts- go around the room
At my sessions there are usually 10-15% High School guys
At this first one was 50% High School guys interested in growing their Youth Programs- a good number of them stuck around for my next one on Practice Org

Lots of guys who run my stuff there from Seattle area, Oregon, Canada- the Canadian program that came down to play us in Nebraska was there in full force

Several youth programs talked to me about their success- numbers are fine- growing
West Seattle program that runs my system with all of their teams- growing
Why? Well run, well managed and consistently winning across the board. Those seem to be the factors of growing programs
However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.

It might be anecdotal, but perhaps the HS coaches are seeing that their pipeline is being affected by drops in participation at the youth level.  If they can help stem that tide, then they will be more successful.  The reality is that we have to work together better to help ensure the long term viability of the sport.

We have a new HS HC this year and we have been working with him on some of those very issues.  Not sure where it will take us, but we can't sit back and wait for things to happen magically.

NEVER had that many HS guys in a session= EVER, not even close

All concerned about numbers- being very proactive- some working with their youth programs
Others taking notes on how to build up their own or Jr High program numbers

Number of youth programs- like mine- growing
Not all bad news everywhere

That's encouraging to hear.! I live in Washington state. I'm 300 miles from Seattle but if they can fix it there, we should be able to fix it here. We are a state that is likely to propose a bill to "outlaw" football. Seattle dominates everything in our state. That city is just a northern suburb of California.

Hi Dave,

It was a pleasure to attend your session from last weekend. Been running your stuff for a while but my first in person meeting. Not everything was new to me obviously but it was good to hear some stuff as a refresher as well as some of the changes or additions you have made since I originally bought the materials.

Thanks again for coming up to the Pacific North West. How was your ski trip the following day?

Cheers,

Coach Brad

Brad

Thank you very much
Love your area of the country
Awesome location and digs

Great group of fellas- at one time almost have the audience was running my stuff- so that HELPS a lot

Skiiing was great- just 30 minutes from my uncles house
Really glad I did it Sunday instead of Thursday
Either I thought I was a better skiier than I am or Im getting old- did about 22 runs top to bottom
Lot different deal than the last time I skied alone  ;D- no more going top to bottom with no stops. Now its at LEAST 3
