I went from planning on running Joe's Power I to running Joe's youth version of the spread. It has been a crazy season so far. Plus I am dealing with Florida storms so we have not had as much practice as we need to really be an efficient offense. Thankfully I have a smart group of kids and they are picking things up quickly. My QB is especially smart, I think he knows the plays better than I do.

What prompted the change?

Switching from 10U to 14U and the 14U HC being a spread offense guy. The HC agreed to let me run Joe's version of the spread and that is what we are doing. I wish we had more time to work on it as rain has been killing us but we have athletes, I just hope our undersized line will hold up against some of the monsters we will be facing.

Screen 'em!  Screen 'em to death!  Make those monsters wear themselves out chasing screens while your little OL get out onto their LBs and DBs.

What is your run game? Zone or power schemes?

Both. We have a dynamic back for zone and one who should excel in power/counter. So we are going to run both. The common denominator is the combos. We will be combing no matter if we run zone or power. We have no choice, we lack size.

Yes. Me and our line coach, but mostly me. I coach the line on combos and stepping with their right first step. I coach the backs on who to read on their first cut. We don't have a big staff and my line coach is the Pres, so he often has double duty.
