It is absolutely bait and switch, more than one way to skin a cat.  They bait you in for a few years and then all of a sudden bam the raise the price 400%.

I have a hard time believing that all of a sudden they realize the youth accounts were that unprofitable if they needed to raise the price that much.  Sure you get more bang for your buck, but not all features are benefits.

I am sure a very small percentage of youth coaches will continue with Hudl.

I am sure the advertising fee they pay you more than covers the $400 you will pay in 2 years.

It is classic bait and switch. Get you wanting / needing something that is a great value then BAM! Not such a great value anymore.

My Industry had baited and switched me my entire career. If I had to guess....I have literally thrown away in the trash at least $250K worth of CAD software and computers fast enough to run the programs. My timing was terrible. CAD was new and cheap computers never really existed.

Autodesk had been thieving like this for 30 years now with their constant "upgrades" that would now outperform the hardware....so now you need new hardware. Rinse repeat every 5 years . I finally wised up and went a different direction.

My first CAD station...total investment....OS, Software, Computer....probably about $15K invested. My cell phone would out preform that computer now a day.

Anyway....It seems Hudl is no longer looking at the youth market. At 3 or 4 hundred bucks....just fell to the bottom of most everyone's list.

Our parents will gladly pay the fee- they see the value
I know we have several out of town grandparents that would probably donate the entire amount- if we were to discontinue-- so they can watch all of their grandsons games down in Florida  ;D
However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.

You either build it into the price
OR you let them know
If you want this- we need x$ from every player

We have also asked for off budget item donations- nice to have items- not must haves-  some people want to donate x amount to cover a specific non budgetary item
This year we were able to get 6 tall bags- another year 11 garbage cans, last year game uniforms for 1 team, the year before that game uniforms 2 teams (we budget for a 3 year lifecycle on game unis) If we get the money we buy the item- if we dont- we dont

Its always a plus when you have a parent that will donate large sums.

All too often that has been....me.

I was on the phone with them last Saturday.  It took 5 hours and 15 minutes and several remote sessions (where they control your computer screen) to get my game video loaded.  They loaded Hudl Mercury, took it back out, reloaded it, tried an older version of it, etc. The laptop is brand-new (purchased in June).  They finally did a work-around and got the video loaded.  I dread having to do this again next week.  When video takes longer to load than it does to break down, it's an issue.  I'd rather burn the DVD and watch it together at the school with the players.  Wonder what a high-def DVD burner costs...

Gee, thank you for sharing that with me, Mike.  Especially what you did at 7:52.  I can only assume you know someone at Hudl.

You would think the guy who talks with someone at Hudl for 5 hours a night would know someone at Hudl.  You should make a parody of that Jake at State Farm commercial.

I don't talk with just one person.  I get handed around and then they let somebody else take a shot a fixing it.

Well see, there ya go..."Allie did this and Mosley did that."  It's nice when you have others to take care of the issues and then say you have had no problems.  ::)

Oh no....that was for this Dumcoach Site. I dont do tech stuff here or I'd crash the thing.  ???

Everything at home I set up myself with no phone calls. Its a little clunky at first but has never been an ongoing issue.

Correct me if im wrong DP but i believe Dave is one of tbose artsy fartsy Apple guys....thats his HUDL issue.  I hate Apple...not because they are bad products, actually very well built, but because of their proprietary OS.  Non MacOSX apps struggle

I use an iMac and a MacBook for almost everything, but I have a cheap PC just to run the stuff that doesn't work so well, or at all, on Apple.

I saw Dave with a Windows machine.  Maybe he borrowed it, but he wasn't cringing as he touched it.   ;D
