2X2 motioning to 3X1
« on: August 20, 2010, 11:35:35 AM »
Against a poorly coached secondary would it be a good idea to line up in a 2X2 set then motion to a 3X1 with a quick snap before they can react?
1.catches them offguard
2. the db has to run across the defense and then catch up to a wr who is already moving on the snap.

The problem with this is that the motion could throw off your Qb's read. It's better to have designed motion plays. Have the FL in a 2x2 motion in then have the TE run 4yd out.

I also think that if you have 2x2, 3x1 and 3x2 you'll be able to shred their secondary. I was planning on implementing wrist coaches and doing it that way.

Sticking to an old school R&S mentality we implemented the "rip" and " load" calls for the slots to motion to a trips formation. Then for the back we have lion and ram calls wher on "set" he will motion out. The qb doing the stomp for whatever reason was a problem for him so we simplified. I believe he was trying to think too mich. We also installed the switch routes, they work well vs man coverage. Slot man takes a jab step and goes out and up while the outside man comes underneath for the quick pass.if its covered the qb takes off.

Used these  plays when we motioned.
1. Screen to motion WR.
2. Screen to widest WR on Trips side.
3. Pass to single side WR. QB would look at WR as motion was happening to get his read.
4. Fake Screen, Draw to HB.
5. Fake Screen throw streak to 2nd WR on trips side.
