Well, we lost in the playoffs 14-6 last weekend.  Tale of two halfs. After we returned the opening kickoff for a TD,  we gave up 14 points on their first two drives (after giving up 25 points all season).  First time a team drove on us all season.  They didn't do anything special, they just played more physical than we did in the first half.  Did have some gap integrity issues with my weak side end and a couple of ill timed offsides, but for the most part they just lined up and beat us up. Did I mention after their first TD, we fumbled on our first offensive play and they recovered.

So at halftime, went over alignment issues and just challenged the kids to step up.  The result was 3 drives and -negative 20 yards for the other team.   SO we went from playing our worst defensive half of the season, so our best defensive half of the season.  So after we stop them on the first drive of the half, we run Zone red, QB keeps for about 40 yards, we lose 25 of it because of a clip 10 yards behind the runner.  No problem, we still get a first down out of it.  Very next play, we run bubble screen that the Back drops and doesn't cover up.  Of course, refs call it a lateral and they recover.  Can you say momentum killer?

We lost the game on offense.  3 turnovers (they had 0) and 5 penalties including two on long runs that put us inside their 15 in the second half.  BTW, the last turnover was a fumble handoff by one of our best players on their 5 yard line with a minute left.  Yeah, that kind of day.

So, now we are going fishing.  Gonna finish up with a bowl game or two and hopefully on a positive note and turn it in.  The talk is already starting about me and the staff moving up with this group, but it's too soon after the loss for me to even think about next season.

Sorry to hear about the loss Budfos.  Great season and a tough way to end it.  We have a bye this week and then we play another 7-1 team in the playoffs next Saturday.  We may have to win it with Defense because our top RB with 19 TD's over our 8 game season went down with a leg injury in practice Monday night.  Not sure how serious it is but he was nowhere close to going last night.  We have a week and a half so we are hopeful he can bouce back.  I will let you know results.

I have finally returned to the forum as we are gearing up for the 2011 season.  I see that I never did give the update of our playoff game.  Our stud RB and starting bandit did not recover from his leg injury even though he really tried.  He fumbled twice inside of our 10 and came out for good half way thru the 2nd quarter.  I also lost my best ILB and leading tackler (my son) on the opening kickoff to a knee injury.  He tried to gut it out and played 6 plays in the 1st half and about 15 plays in the 2nd half.  He is also my starting pulling guard.  Tough scenario.

We lost 20-6 and had 2 long TD's called back for block in the back calls.  We had 3 more block in the back calls on quality and legal crackbacks and 2 phantom holding calls.  Tough game and probably a slightly bitter coach... lol - Not anymore, it was just tough to swallow.

Anyway, we are  moving up into the higher division and can't wait to run the split 4-4 with a year of experience under our belt.
