If you're worried about the sweep or jet sweep, and you're playing a WT6 with a "B-team", get out of the WT6.  Been there, done that, you won't stop it in that defense.  Unless you're prepared to make a change at corner and use your better athletes there.

WT6 is designed first and foremost with stopping the sweep, the way we run it.

Last 14 seasons, jsut 1 where the first team D had more than 1 sweep greater than 10 yards. That includes all rookie B teams in 2002 all rookie team 2004, 2006, 2008
It's why we sell complete season DVDs- you run it like we do, the sweep is the last play the offense wants to run.
The boxing ends force the swep inside to the DT, 2 LBs, Corner and Safety

I'm not saying it's in ineffective defense.  We ran it for 2 years, went 10-2 and had 7 shutouts.  But in the end it was the sweep that got us.  It put so much pressure on our linebackers when the end could not contain.  We could play the sweep right 8 out of 10 plays, but those two we missed would go to the house.  So, we just made a conscious decision that if we were going to lose this year, it was going to be between the tackles.  Where most teams, including the one that keeps beating us, do not like to run.

I would add, we run the jet sweep on offense and there's not an end in the league, unless they're 4 or 5 yards wide of our tight end, who can box our ball carriers.  And when that happens, we just run it off tackle.

Not sure what defense is MORE dedicated to stopping the sweep than a WT6 with boxing ends, you are selling out to stop the sweep. Just never happens to us, even at the all rookie age 7-9 kids.

On defense 1 coach, all he does on defense is coach DEs
In indys, he is with his group for 40+ minutes every defensive day- on game day, he is only looking at 2 players on defense
LOTS of def recognition during indys, group AND team
Always choose VERY average players who will accept coaching/be obedient

Coach,

I normally use the GAM but we started stacking our A gappers. The only reason I started doing this was to mass confuse the Center and Guards. Well, this season I have no talent at all. So, I took away my stack call and my crash call for my DE and are back to a gappers and boxing. Obviously not a WT6, however we do share similarities with the bear crawlers and boxing ends.

Here is my question for you, I noticed that this new conference I am coaching in uses big studs at centers and Guards. They are just crushing my bear crawlers and I'm wondering if you have any tips or techniques that can help me coach them up so they can avoid getting crush every play.

It's just getting tough to see the little dudes getting pounded on every play.

When the body says no, the heart says GO!
I'm a sell-out! This year I finally committed 100% direct snap and I doubt I will go back under center. My current offense is DW blocking scheme (DO-DOR rules) with multiple formations that include UBDW, UB Spread, Beast, & Bear .
Still running my S.A.M. D

WT6 question against the attached clip.  The complimentary play to this clip has the wing taking the fake and running into the flat for a simple pitch and catch.  Since the wing is taking the fake, should I simply have my DE tackle him?

The wt6 is good, but we had very good success with the 50 rover the last couple of years, the longest was for 8yds.

Cover 1 and could slip to cover2 with the rover going back to fs and, going back to our base 52.At that age 10 and under basically cover 1,if they were going to beat us,I felt they going to have to do it by air.
