1st game results using splitt 4-4
« on: August 27, 2011, 10:06:08 PM »
We are a running a scaled down version of the defense with our 7-8 team, we pitched a shut out 19-0. Our D end's where knifing in two much and we were caught on a double reverse, other than that the other team had no answers for the D

We are running with 10-12 and we lost 12-8 against a very good team.  In the first 1/2 our Sam was aligning wrong and getting leveraged out of the C but once we fixed that things went well and they started having to counter.  Our ends were solid.  What hurt was the early cut back and our LBs playing a little flat.   The offense we faced was basically a hand off only version the pistol with superior athletes running the ball.  Since it was our first game we did not have the chance to scout and if we had we have been able to prevent one of the scores.

We are now 2-0 with running the 4-4 split-the team is getting better every week- they are reading faster and playing more confident-We knew nothing about them they did not have a game week 1 and they had a new coach-they came out in Pro I and Twins I-easy alignmentsand reads and we won the game 42-2.

we are now 2-1 in our first running the D.  Yesterday was the first day it really "clicked" for the players and the defensive came alive.  JR Titan, thanks for all your help.

2nd yr. running the Defense for me, but with a mostly new team this year.  9 returning players as we moved up into a tougher division.  Lost our 1st game to one of the top teams in the league 18-14, They have beaten the other 2 teams they have played 39-0 and 40-0. The game was 3 days after losing 2 of our top 3 players on a nasty collision between the 2.   We won our 2nd game 45-0 and gave up 1 1st down on a pass interference call.  We had 1 of our studs return but the other is out at least 4 more weeks.

This week we play a very good triple option / Veer team that has won their 1st 3 games 45-6, 40-6, and 51-6.  I am watching film and drawing alignments like a mad man.

Moved to 3-0 Friday- Played well- we defended the Option well-Outside Veer gave us a few fits-but we adjusted and tighted up.  We play the #2 team in our class next friday-they are a multiple DW team with a Division 1 Running Back- we will have our hands full.

we are now at 3-1.  Kids got a little to loose on saturday and corner started thinking run and jumping inside.  Bad things happened but we were able to recover.  Good coachable lessons out of the game without the sting of a loss.

move to 4-1 today.  Jr. Titan again, thanks for the resources.  The teams we are playing are really forcing us to use this defense to its utmost ability.  Today we played a team that would shift from a spread look to double tight I with a Z and the power or speed sweep which pressured our alignment calls and changes to a 60 front and contain responsibilities.    Again thanks for the resources.

Good evening coaches, third year running the d, but recently in the spring from Philadelphia to minneapolis.

6th grade team, with a lot of experience but very little fundamental training.  Lost first game 19-0 due to big plays given up and penalties/turnovers on offense.

Switched strong side de and Sam backer and really worked on their techniques between first and second game.  Won game 2 against an annual powerhouse 18-0 and followed that up with a 24-0 win in game 3.  Gave up 1 first down in game 2 and 3 first downs in game 3.  The kids are starting to develop the swagger that I'm used to.

Games 4 and especiaLly game 6 we have some very talented opponents.

Have been playing 46 about1/2 the time because we have a huge advantage up front in this league.  Been really multiple with coverages running 0,1,3 and have worked on a Tampa 2 in practice that we havent used yet.

Having a lot of fun working with this blank canvas of a team, but am extremely bored on game day because of the lack of good coaching in the league.

Moved to 3-1 last friday-we had 3 turnovers in the first half and were still leading at half time 7-6- but the wheels feel off in the 4 quarter with 3 unanswered touchdowns.  We played physical and hard but could not stop the DW power & Iso the 4th quarter.  Kids were really down after the game - they really believed they were the better team that didnt get it done. I think we learned a lot from that game and will get a lot better from it.

Won a TOUGH game 14-13.  Opponent had the best back in the league and good overall team speed.  Gave up two 60 yard TD's to the RB.  Didnt play terrible, just couldn't tackle the kid.  They were averaging about 30/game and their previous low was 18, so we did a decent job of containing them.

If we play them again, will probably play cover 2 and be more aggressive, blitzing off the edge.

3-1 now with a 3 game win streak and on collision course game 6 with the only undefeated team left.  Winner of that game should win division an grab the #1 seed for playoffs.
