36 trey out of base
« on: December 06, 2011, 12:14:39 PM »
Normally when we call 36 trey or in my language (toss special) we 100% ran from super to shoe shine down.  Well i only ran one other play out of that spw. So i realised this is not good to trend this way but i rather not add more plays to super as my se's well have sisters beating them up sometimes. So my thought was to run trey from base.  Got a hold of tape with a dw coach speaking about keeping this play (toss) and add another hat at poa with the TE ala td block. His blocking adjustment to cover this was to have center shoeshine and everyone else use a domino or double call.

My "down" call tells dlm not pulling to sab or go down to next man.

Thoughts?

watch De La Salle, they pull the weak side G & T to the strong or TE side on a counter, QB reverse pivots fakes hand off to RB who scraps heels of pulling tackle, then hands off to other RB who chases pulling tackle.

As far as pulling both and only having center cutting off chasers this would be situational "is the DT over the pulling OT charging? bearcrawling, have 2 gap control?"

If a TE can clean up to a 2 tech im sure a center can clean upto a 5, anything outsude a 5 if he makes a play my hb should be my gaurd imo

weeelll if your facing  a 4-4 he isnt going to make it past the 2 tech to hit the 5 tech, right?, so somebody is needing to scrap off the heels of that pulling bst..Unless that DT or DE is a MPP

besides your post of 36 trey is usually called a counter trey, yes?

I watched a WS OG and OT both pull this year with no TE shoeshining.   I was shocked to see it but the BS defender did not make the tackle.

Ive seen this to, as a matter of fact it was De La Salle again. But this is in the minority of play calls, probably after they see the DT doing nothing (MPP or tired or bear crawling?) theres usually a back faking a run and this back scraps heels off of pulling tackle

the reason you hear a lot about them is, well to be honest, its their success, and what they do it with. Sure they have had some D1 kids, but the team is never stacked with D1 talent. The O line, commonly, will avg 230 +/- (a few years they had some bigger kids) but this tends to be about their avg aND THEY BLOW THE BIG BOYS AT DT OFF THE BALL!!!! I dont know what they do to achieve this but they fire off the ball very fast, they use great form......just look at what they did to the big strong kids from Servite HS. They picked up and drove those boys into submission, it wasnt even a contest, they destroyed that D line!

Ive only seen them "beat" at the LOS once and that was vs the Iron men of New Jersey - Don Bosco HS the #1 rated team in the country.

The O-Line that dominated Servite last year (35-0 at the half in the Open Division State Bowl Game) was listed at 209-211-246-212-223.  That's an average of 220.2.

I saw them hit the sled this year.  It was pretty cool.

This game was pretty good:

De La Salle was a little smaller on the lines, I think.
