Youth oneback offense video playbook
« on: December 21, 2011, 12:42:52 PM »
We studied Bill Mountjoy's, mhcoach, Kevin Burns, coach doug, and others material and installed the following offense with our 6th graders:

http://www.youtube.com/user/coachmsl/videos

You will see some lineman blocking the wrong guy or not climbing....  I will chalk that up to our first year running it and i sucked coaching it up.  lol

Any critiques, comments, questions just holler.

Matt

Not bad coach, your Powers,Counters, and Tosses looked good for your first year running it.
About the only thing that I would critique are the KO blocks by either your H or BSG, I would just coach em' up on sustaining those blocks till the whistle. But again, GREAT JOB!

Thanks

They do need to get better at sustaining blocks.  This was one of our post season bullet points.  One of the many things we need to get better at.  Dont you love when they turn to watch the ball carrier.    :(

Saving film and pasting clips on to Youtube was tough.  They just execute so poor generally.

So Monday night was my 6th grade sons band concert.  6th played, then 7th, then 8th.  Remarkable improvement year to year.  Then last night my HS son played in his concert.  Frosh, then JZ, then varisty.  The varsity had a guest clarinet player.  They did some major cool stuff.  Afterward, the thought occured to me that this is what happens in general with our kiddos.  Where they are now is temporary.  We get to help guide them on their path.  Enjoy it.

Looking back in 6 years when these boys are seniors, the video clips will be fun to have.

Thanks for watching.

Nice job coach you make us proud.

MS team I coached last season went 7-1 running it again this year.

Quite a few PS teams winning big up here in PA  (Wood, LaSalle, North Penn etc..)

ALOT of our members went deep into the finals- Greg and Joe M faced off in the Virginia 5a  finals

Then you back it up with a 9-0 season.

Drives me freakin' insane.

I am all over my guys in team if I see their head move on pass plays when the ball comes out, and on run plays if they let up when the runner gets tackled but the whistle hasn't blown yet, because in both cases, it means they are looking at the ball.

I tell them that if the ball rolls in front of them while they are blocking, fall on it.  Otherwise, don't worry about the freakin' football.

I should probably mention to them that if they are blocking and someone on the other team runs by with the football, they should try to tackle him.

Couple sugestions if you dont mind bud

1) Inside Zone Cutback clip, you are running it to the Red side, we ONLY run it to the white, but he made a nice read.

2) Outside Zone clip Y and OT combo.  Y should rip inside out on the EMOL, while the OT works to overtake, Y then takes the next defender inside - The back has to read the hat of the EMOL on stretch, if the DE (in this case) stretches with the Doubleteam by the TE and OT, he cuts up inside it

AWESOME!
And I agree with your post comparing your kids musical experience to football, you're right, it's a JOURNEY, it's a PROCESS.
And I concur, ENJOY IT while it's here, because their's no "do overs" when it comes down to watching your kids grow.
And it's refreshing to see a coach ask for critique after posting the numbers that you posted, I get sick of certain coaches acting like their "stuff don't stink" if they were to achieve numbers like those.
But anyways, good stuff man, keep doing what you're doing, keep getting better...
