Double Wing Symposium 2012
« on: December 21, 2011, 08:10:02 PM »
Hey guys - just got off the phone with JJ, he confirmed that the DWS is happening in New Orleans February 9-12.  Arrive the 9th, sessions are on the 10th and 11th, depart the 12th.

He's still finalizing the speakers and the hotel arrangements.  He said to go ahead and book your flights, just hold off a couple of days on the hotel.  He'll post the info and links over at the Delphi DW forums, I'm sure the info will then quickly make it over here.

It's a great, GREAT time.  Two days of nothing but football, from 8am to well past too late.  Walking distance to Bourbon Street.  Great coaches.  I almost don't even care about the specific sessions, just spending that much time soaking up football with these guys is worth the $.

I've been waiting to hear about the date.  Is it always in New Orleans?  Flying from the west coast.  I will have to see what ticket prices are before I can commit.

It's been NO for the past 2 years I think, and I believe they're looking to keep it there for a couple more.  That was actually a topic of conversation last year - NO is a nice warm weather middle of the country location, and the hotel is situated to where everything is within walking distance.  Not to mention, with JJ running it for now, makes sense to keep it in his backyard.  Jack was always adamant that it be done where someone can be local helping put it all together.

It's a great location, very convenient.  Was maybe a 10-15 minute walk to Bourbon Street.  And with it being just before Mardi Gras really kicks off, that last Saturday night after the sessions are over is a friggin blast.  I can't even imagine what it would be like DURING Mardi Gras, given how crazy it was before it got going...

I want to know who will be speaking this season? Last season we did a round table with the guest to get a feel on what would be covered. I guess I need to work some more overtime and see if I can swing this. I wish the info was out before now (hard to because of how things fall getting speakers, space, and etc.) tickets go up everyday and rooms out there.

Sounds like this DW Symposium is going to be awesome. If I had the $$ I would most certainly go. But I will look forward to the posts on the DW Symposium site when they are added.

Leonard Johnson was a guest speaker at the Single Wing Conclave last year.  Guy was phenomenal, have your pencil sharp because he will give you some great quotes to live by.   "Give me the edge or give me the wedge".  I would love to see him speak again.
