What is your most reliable pass play?
« on: January 19, 2012, 03:13:34 PM »
The one that you know will be completed a high percentage of the time. Your home run pass play. What formation do you run it from and against what type of coverages?

Play action Flood Left.  "TB Sweep Pass"
When the body says no, the heart says GO!
I'm a sell-out! This year I finally committed 100% direct snap and I doubt I will go back under center. My current offense is DW blocking scheme (DO-DOR rules) with multiple formations that include UBDW, UB Spread, Beast, & Bear .
Still running my S.A.M. D

Play action Flood... if the running game was working it was TD every time.

As has been mentioned several times already, play action flood pass. Especially vs. Cover 1 or 3.

Cisar UBSW

16 Pass
Omaha 16 Pass
Mouse 16 Pass
Rocket 16 Pass

Basically jump pass to the Weak/Quickside TE.  Only called it when the backside CB and LB were biting on the 16 Power.

Vince

Once proficient.....All of them from any formation vs all coverage’s less turn back and missile screens and swing passes.

We dont pass expecting drops. Drops surprise me actually.

Plus none of them are homeruns per say....thats up to the defense.  ;)

Over the years each team that could pass has come up with that money play....depends on the situation for that particular season.

vs any two high look..."lee thunder 990 T post"- its basically a three verticals concept from the double wing off of split flow play action.

vs anything else, the tried and true waggle pass has been great to us.

FWIW, we also run Cisar's stuff. 16 Pass was open ALL YEAR. So open to the point my head was about to explode. We taught the route. The route was fine. We tried to teach/rep the jump-pass. Our 1B never got it. Would do great in practice, but would melt game-time with too much excitement. We also tried just a simple step-pass without the jump. Didn't have any better results. I'm sure kitttens and baby seals across the world were crying.

On the other hand, 18 Sweep Pass was our most reliable pass. I guess it was something with the 1B rolling out with the WB and having open space between them.

I really needed the ability to rely on the 16 pass, but didn't have it. It will be a primary focus for us this coming year. Hopefully we will have better results.

Best of luck next year,
-Gary
