Just started toying around with it.  Have done plays no huddle, but haven't yet done, say, a full drive no huddle.  Likely going to keep working it in over time.

Coach Jeff

Over the last ten years I have run some no huddle. Last season on the Varsity we ran very little, but I didn't get there till August 1. This season we are thinking about going full no huddle. On the JH team we were about 35% no huddle.

I do not go no huddle, but I remember long conversations on these forums about the difficulty in youth FB players picking up hand signals, and that wrist coaches, while cost something, work much much better.

If you decide to go hand signals (or anybody else for the matter) at the youth level, please give us an idea of how well it works.

We use Coach Cisar's system with wrist coaches for all of the players at 3/4, 5/6, 7/8 grade.  Works great!

We were no huddle for about 40 % of the game--we have had so much success with it over the past 5 seasons we are going to do it a lot more this up coming year.

I feel like no huddle is under used and underrated in youth football.

We ran a situational no huddle this season for the first time.  It was a preset play package that we cycled through automatically when we saw certain defensive personnel (read MPR players) on the field.  We called this NASCAR.  Kids got back on the ball as soon as it was spotted and snapped on first sound.  Kept the d from putting starters back in, unless they burned a timeout.

It was also helpful in getting plays in quickly for our MPR kids.  We once got three plays in with 34 seconds left in the half.

I used the 3 Panel Nike but found that it was too big for the kids. Luckily my son had forearm pads so we were able to use that and just put the wrist coach over that pad and it worked out.

We didn't run no huddle but are looking to run that with our MPP, so that they can get their plays in and move the ball, as well. Looking to give them any and all the advantages we can. Teaching them Wedge Blocking scheme and running on first sound.

Coach Cisar, what is your system for running the no huddle?
