Shield Punt at the Youth Level

I was wondering how viable of a scheme this would be at the youth (middle school) level?

D

I have never used it but am thinking that it might not be a bad idea since long snapping is always iffy as far as being nice a crisp. It seems like it would give you two lines of defense.

I’ve noticed that the colleges use wide interior splits. Is this to encourage the rush?

I’d have to experiment with this on grass.

If you get X and O's labs latest report they have a good write up on it.

I've always thought that it couldn't be that difficult to figure out their rules and find a way to get two men through to move one of the punt's second tier/deeper guys into the path of the ball/kicker.

But, guys that have their mortgages riding on their career still run it, so what do I know...
