I think it's just part of the evolution of a coach really.  I

In todays, game the lines between defenses have become so blurred it's hard to tell what the hell is exactly being run, I like the idea of meshing 3-5 and 46, definitely different.

We dont even designate what our defense is, we base out of  4-2-5, personell but we also jump to a 3-4, dependig on the call we may be in a 4-3, Similar to what Alabama does

4 DL, 3 Safties, 2 CB, 2 LB- that's our set

We just call it "defense"

Scheme, IMHO, is LESS than 1/2 the battle, maybe 30 percent.  Technique, and gettting 11 to play as a raging, fire breathing, relentless run-your-ass-to-the-ball defense is the other 70 percent.  What you pick as a base is almost a null point is basically what I'm saying...

I agree, it's about that FIRE,DESIRE, and BELIEF.
It's about getting those kids to crank it up a notch EACH and EVERY single play, make em' leave it ALL on the field.
You have to get those kids to believe that they can stop 4th and LESS THAN ONE INCH if you lined em' up in the PARKING LOT!
