Wow, a Kilgore reference.  Havent heard that name in decades.  He was a monster at West.

You still in Philly?

No, but I still love it.

Went to a lot of high school basketball games in the mid-80s.  Saw Pooh Richardson, Snoop Graham, Hank Gathers, Bo Kimble, Heat Gates, Lionel Simmons, Brian Shorter, Dink Whitaker, Rasheed Wallace.  Saw the 4OT West.Frankford game, Ben Franklin beat USA Today #1 Baltimore Dunbar 58-57, Dunbar beat Dobbins in overtime the day before, Shorter go 44 and 20 against a team from California.

Good times.

Ended up in line for the opening ceremonies for the Olympic Festival in '86 in Houston behind the East basketball team.  Spent a few minutes talking hoops with Snoop Graham.

14 D1 players and another 12 playing college ball on one high school team.  Scary stuff to be playing against.   I notice that these schools often have D1 players move to their districts from out of county and even out of state in the hopes of improving their scholarship chances.

Nice problem to have if you are a coach.

Basketball is even worse!  The moving around from school to school to play was a huge problem in Florida in the early 2000's.  Some kids played on 4 different HS teams in baseball and basketball.

Did you play in te Olympic Fesival?  If so, that is impressive.  To compete for an Olympic spot would have to be one the highest athletic honors.

Funny thing is with all that talent, they never make it ut of the first Rd of the playoffs.

--No. 22 in the ratings. Offensive lineman Jarron Jones of Aquinas Institute (Rochester, N.Y.) inked with Notre Dame,
--My son got the privilege of getting crushed by this kid a few tiimes in the Unlimited organization I used to coach in. At 12 this kid was about 6" 220 and was really strong and pretty quick for a big guy. I think he is like 6-7 305 now. The next year they put in a weight limit to run the ball. I know he gave 1 of my kids a concussion and broke 1 of his own teammates arm or leg falling on him.

I told my son about the signing and he thanked me for bringing up the GREAT memories....Owww.

I think I read that they went 9-2 though and only lost to 2 other powerhouses.

Still the vast majority of schools have zero D1 players and often only a few that are going to play football past h.s. at any level, to have 14 D1 players on one h.s. team is crazy.
