Title: Numbering System for Stacked Receivers
Post by: CoachJohn on September 02, 2013, 07:55:01 PM
Coaches,

How do you number and align to stacked recievers?

Is numbering considered front to back?

          1               T   G   C   G   T                 1
                                     Q                           2
                                                                   3
                                     F

How about two stacks?

          1               T   G   C   G   T                 1
                                     Q             3            2
                                                     4

You're diagrams are how I would count it

Are you zone or man coverage

In terms of the diagarm above I was just thinking pure man coverage.

In pure zone (no man under coverage) I can only see Cover 3 (maybe cover 4) being effective for the 2nd diagram.

Coaches how would you align your defense to a triple stack in man or zone coverage

          1               T   G   C   G   T                 1
                                     Q                           2
                                                                   3
                                     F

Thanks Zach. I was thinking something similar, just could picture where to place the CB.

The safety over the middle of the stack is he the SS or FS?

Depending on the age group, playing man in that triple stack scenario can be hard. Too easy to pick off defenders. If you do want to go man against it, I would recommend having the defenders in layers (different levels).
