« on: July 30, 2013, 04:49:10 PM »
I proposed mid lining two "2" techs in this thread but have never tried it:

I'm going to agree with winged. The 2 should read the release and condense A gap tackling dive at least the first time.

Try 2, 3, 4 to the same guy I think will be different

MOST Triple teams want to run the MIDLINE to a 3 tech, & the TRIPLE to a 1 or 2.

When we ran the ATTACHED defense - they got away from CALLING the "midline":

We generally only ran it to a 3 tech as others suggested.

I prefer WHAM to a 2 tech.  Perhaps if the 2 was slanted or flexed i might go w/ midline.  Or i suppose if you really wanted the QB to keep, it could work a couple times a game.  I have some film of us running it in Floirda against two 2 techs.  It worked, but it was an auto keep and we only ran it twice.  Once they figure out the dive isn't a threat, it loses it's foundation.

The idea was to create an automatic keep.  The next defender out was a "7".

But I don't try and force square pegs into round holes.  I'll go with the standard reply.
