Red used 6 to 8 men in protection at times. Due to being on my phone looking at the playbooks is a bit of a pita. His "everyone block" was his 8 man protection. He did screen the crap out of people. They had one blocking scheme for screens.  His protection was a little different than some of Shoot guys protection.  Red wanted to throw the ball. He wasn't going to fight walled cities but the man loved to throw.

So its not really RNS then, but more of a hybrid

It's as much RNS as Tiger's was.  I think part of the disconnect here is when people talk about the Shoot they are mainly talking about Mouse's version and if it doesn't fit that then they think it's not the Shoot. Red believed you needed a goal line package. That was one of the knocks people had of Mouse's version was GL stuff.

Mouse in the beginning used a two back set and motioned. I believe he even used a TE. I know during the USFL years they did have 7 man check protection they used at times and the run game was expanded.

There are a number of different versions of the shoot. Each a little different. Tiger, Red, Mouse, Jenkins, and Jones.

Guilty.. I think Mouse when someone says RNS

However the teams that ended the shoots time in the spotlight were teams the blitzed the hell out of it .

Dan Morrison went over 3 hours of how they 6 man protect with Junes stuff, he was awesome.
