let's talk organization: big numbers

Well we will be coaching a program with over 60 kids at practice as opposed to 25-28 kids....big difference.....Now I have a question for some of you veterans...Offensively during team how would/do you run it?  two huddles?  one scout team?  How do you avoid kids standing around during team?

Nick

We are at the 4th day of Spring Practice. We have 150 players on the field. Even with 10 coaches it is still difficult to maintain practice pace & keeping everything moving. Not only do we run 2 offenses during team time, but during install it's broken down to Squad V & Squad J. So install usually starts with Squad V, & Squad J is on the sled. Halfway through we switch.

One thing that helps us is our tempo. We go fast & almost never huddle, so we get a lot of reps in a short amount of time. We run 4 groups during each indie session in order to keep things flowing fast. PatnGo 4 groups, One on 1's 4 groups. We run in 6 play units for Inside run let's say. So V1 is going one direction, & J1 the other. V2 & J2 are ready to go we have no slow down when we sub out.

How many coaches?  Are you going to two platoon?  Do those numbers include freshman?

we will not two platoon unless we feel it is best for the team....2 coaches to an indy period--possibly 3.... numbers do not include freshmen

60 kids for the varsity only or is there a JV at your HS?
Really its only 60 kids, even if just one team. Start off with your 1st team and 2nd team thats 22 and near half is taken up right there, providing all 60 show.
Are you running on air? or are there 11 kids holding bags or shields?
If above is accurate thats 33, and your going to have just enough kids left over to run indy's, linemen, receivers, backs etc

the local High Schools have to Platoon there over 80 just on offense another 80 or so on defense.
