That's three in 54 years.  They're really rolling.

I'm not sure what that would be like. We'll have to ask some of the old timers(I won't mention any names but they know who they are).

Hahahaha.   Michael.  Stop hating as the kids would say.   Tampa winning wouldn't have made Boston suck any less.    How come you are not a Flyers fan anyway?

Fireworks were going off late into the night last night in my neighborhood.

2nd time I have watched an entire hockey game from start to finish.   Both in this series.

Someone will have to explain "Icing" to me.   Or I will have to google it I guess.   Embarrassingly, couldn't figure that one out in real time from context.

I can tell you the play by play guy gets a workout.   Puck is really moving.   Contrast that with a baseball telecast where they try to fill the time between pitches or batters with banter of anything and everything that comes to mind.

I like how when the guys are all standing around the net and play is just whistled dead some guy will always take a casual light punch to the guy nearest him in the face with his glove.

I did see a play late in game when Hawks just went up two and some idiot tripped a Tampa player with his stick and gave them a power play and a new chance at life.    I was thinking, coach can't be too happy about that.

I was also thinking the defense was so good on both sides that they really needed to just keep blasting shots at the net whenever possible, following it up and trying to put in shots off the rebounds rather than keep working for that perfect shot or one timer.    But what the hell do I know about Hockey?

The Tampa goalie was huge.   Don't know how he stayed crouched for that long and contorted his body so much.   I hear he had a torn groin to boot.

Good stuff.

What sucks for me is I used to be a huge hockey fan. Growing up in Jersey of course I was a Devils fans but I also liked the Flyers being since I was so close to Philly. Back when they made all those rules changes(yikes, about 15 years ago now) I stopped watching. I thought the changes altered the game pretty drastically. Now that was from the standpoint of a Devils fan who loved watching the trap defense which some of the rules changes pretty much shut that defense down. Scott Stevens basically retired because of the new rules. One of the best defense men ever with a his name on the Cup a few times to help back that claim up. That hit where he destroyed Lindros in the 90 playoffs was classic Stevens. Just destroyed the pretty boy. So what sucks is now we have a very good hockey team in Florida and I have little to no interest. Maybe I'll start watching again next season.

Basically, you can't whip the puck from your own end to beyond the other goal line, unless you're shorthanded.

Ah, I get it.  So you can clear the puck while defending power play, but not any other time.

And offsides is like soccer?   Can't pass it to a guy behind last defender?

No.

You can't cross the other team's blue line before the puck.

No.

You can't cross the other team's blue line before the puck.

So that's what those blue lines are for.

Soccer should change to that.   That's a better rule.   Actually, I think soccer would be really cool with no offsides and lots of cherry picking one on one plays with the goalie.

Basketball has no offsides and does fine.    Just get back on defense or suffer the consequence.

Love the Stanley Cup Finals.

Hardest tourney to win in all of sports and without question the coolest Trophy at stake.

Congrats Hawks fans.  :)
What is beautiful, lives forever.
