The Book?!!?!
« on: June 29, 2015, 03:28:41 PM »
All -

I recently purchased a couple of disks on tackling and shed blocking from Championship productions featuring Jack Gregory.  I have to preface this by saying that I didn't have super high expectations, mainly because the two books I've purchased from Jack Gregory (The Gun and 63 Defense) came close to making my head explode.  I'm not sure what it is but I just have a really tough time grasping the way that Coach Gregory writes.

Anyhow...the disks (2 disk series on tackling) and the 1 disk on shed blocking and creating turnovers, were both excellent.

So, I splurged today and bought the 5 disk double wing set.  I was going to run DCWT this season but I'm having a tough time with it.  I need someone to hold my hand and show me the way.  I went to buy the book as well and it's not available?!?!?! (not that I'd probably be able to understand it, but it would be nice to have).  The link on the website goes to a page that has been removed and copies of the book are going for like $60 on Amazon.

Coach Gregory - are you out there?  can I buy a copy of this in PDF or something...anything?

Respectfully,

KEN

Ken:

Im glad you liked Jacks material.  I happen to disagree with you regarding his Books.  Having read many others who make the assumption you already know their material, Jacks is a fairly easy read.  One thing I will say about 99% of the material written about Offense or Defense is that it assumes you know the terminology etc.

There are several books that I have had to re-read more than 3 times to come to grips with their teachings.  Jacks is one that I had the least problems with.  That being said, you MUST start with the Base and Build.  I dont care whose material you use, trying to get everything in, all at once, is very difficult to say the least.

I cant speak for availability but, if you have questions concerning his 6-3 there are more than a few "disciples" using his material on DumCoach who are more than willing to help answer questions.

Good Luck

Have you read Arnsparger's book? Jeesh. I gave up on much of it. I haven't read any of Jack's books but I have seen his material floating around for years. Proably people putting out sections of an older edition. Never had a problem with what I have seen.

This link takes you to an earlier (?) version of his playbook.  At the end of the document, Jack states that this is intended to be free.  I have not checked this document, so I have no idea how it may relate to his more current materials.

Happy reading

Shad - I think my original post was phrased poorly.  In no way am I knocking jack and talking down on his writing.  I was trying to express that FOR ME, I have a tough time grasping it.  I started with Cisar and Cisar holds your hand and writes in a very simple "Barney style" sort of way where someone like me who has an IQ of about 50 can grasp it.

I just set up this discount so for the month of July it takes $10.00 off. The current power points posted are tied to that book as well.

Ahh Kinda like the some assembly required instructions in Kids Toy's.

Step 1)  Obtain Structural Engineering Degree w/ Minor in Electricity
Step 2)  Scream obscenities.
Step 3)  Trounce loosely assembled pieces like Gozilla through Tokyo
Step 4)  Hand kid a rock and 20 rolls of caps

Been there

LOL ;D ;)

@Shad -

That's exactly it brother.  Some of this stuff is just hard for me to wrap my head around.  I think it's because I need to see it more than I need to read about it...but by hitting it from as many directions as possible, I can usually get a handle on it.
