What is a "Jump" call
« on: July 09, 2015, 06:26:17 PM »
Several Coaches here, by personal conversations understand we set our defensive front by a "Jump" call instead of calling "Strong". This is actually a carry over from when we were a 50 Slant defense. Quite often we would set the front opposite the strength so it was a "Jump" call. We usually will set the front to the TE, even though that isn't always the strong side, hence the Jump call.

Our secondary will call the strong side by the number of receivers. So our ILB's will make a "Jump" call, & the secondary will call the strength.
